The Vatsaas Brothers's site has a number of interesting articles like that one. I knew about the "Bert Drag Race" (http://www.vatsaas.org/rtv/misc/ghs2002/bertrace/bertrace.aspx) which inspired that letter. It was certainly one of the high points in the history of rocketry! :)

But, I hadn't seen that specific page. Thanks for the link.

BTW, the "Akavish" rockets my wife and I have built were (obviously) inspired by The Muppets:

Ya gotta love Odd-Rocs no matter what form: but muppet drag racing is really a hoot!

Beaker would have been a good choice aerodynamically as well. lol

One of our CMASS members, Scott Clement, has built a Beaker rocket that he's flown for years.

Maybe TonyPV has some photos.
