I wanted to do a demo of nose blow recovery for my VBS group so I pulled out the Taurus 1. The original build thread for this rocket can be found in the archive here: http://www.rocketryforumarchive.com/showthread.php?t=47635

The rocket was loaded with a 1/2A3-4 and taken to the pad. It was the first of the "traditional" looking rockets they had seen for the day. I reminded them of MAGPIE which had used the same motor and then pushed the button at the end of the countdown. It went up FAST.

There were lots of appreciative sounds from the kids but none were as awe struck as when I stretched out my hand and the rocket came to rest with my hand gripped around the center of the shock cord. I had not moved since giving the launch command. That did entail a discussion on active guidance and homing systems though...
