Alright...I'm working on my Thanksgiving break roc.
I've got a pretty nifty little design, pretty simple, but i wanted to do something a little different with the engines....I want NOISE!!!
so i decided to cluster some Smaller engines. But I also wanted something alittle out of the ordinary.......soo......

I've mounted.....
1-Estes B4
2-Estes A10T's
4-Estes 1/2A3t'S

alright besides all being wierd numbers...I've mount each one sticking out just a litte futher than the last.

My question here is will mounting them in this way cause any problems?

the attached pic is a pic of the space cad rendering of the engine mounting....

also...is there anywhere I can get a full list of CURRENT engines for estes to use in space cad....I have a hard time remembering which ones are OOP...and what the new ones are....

THANKS!

For your complete motor listing, Click Here

Estes is about half way down the page.

As for your motor configuration... ...nice to see yer thinkin' "out side the rocket", as it were :D

That should work just fine. The only possible concern would be scorching the motor tubes of the central motor. Other than that, shouldn't cause any problems at all.

Is there mabey any way i could protect it?...I'm not sure of any materials right now but something that would resist heat pretty well....what about making aluminum foil covers?...
just throwing ideas...

then again...the distance from the "lowest" to "highest" motor is only about 1/4" if that much.....would that still cause some possibilities?

If you're concerned about scorching the tubes, try some foil tape, available at your local home warehouse store. Fairly cheap for the quantities you'd use, and it does the job nicely. It wipes clean, and if it gets scorched, you peel it off and replace it. Easy as that!

Remeber that the motors stick out of the botom of the motor mounts a little. As With a little thought it's possible to make the uppermost motors lower than the lowermost motor mount. Make sense?

I might be concerned about the farther-sticking motors adding excess weight to the bottom right or left side. I may not be thinking straight tho.

As long as it's designed that way, what's the problem?

I agree that if you take an existing design and hang the motors further out, then stability should be checked.
