Alright, two quick questions for the forum:

1. What is the weight of bondo figerglass cloth (walmart stuff)? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

2. On the Black Brant II, what is that dip in the body tube for (it is a plastic transition in the Estes kit)? It is a ring around the bottom part of the rocket, and the fins lay over it. It was a solid-fueled rocket, so no tank of fuel in there. Its been driving me NUTS!!! If I didn't explain it well enough, Sandman can probably do better, he made the upscale (234% estes) part (excellent work, mind you).

As far as I know "Bondo" while a brand name is also a generic name for all 2 part plastizied epoxy body fillers. Sort of like calling all acrylic plastics "plexiglas" or all Polycarbonate plastics "Lexan". You can buy REAL bondo at K-mart, Wal-mart Auto-zone, and most "Automotive parts stores" I have no Idea what the weight is but can tell you from using similar materials on signs, cars and light aircraft it is some Heavy stuff.

I'm with sandman on the Black Brant reduction ring.. it really is Kewl looing:D

Hahha....when I first got into fiberglassing, I got the Bondo Fiberglass Mat. It must be 30oz or something. I couldn't even wrap it around the body tube it was so thick! The stuff was much thicker than the estes body tube I was trying to glue it to.

Btw, I got the black brant II done for the most part, I just have to lay the .75oz glass on top of the 6-8oz fillet layer to cover them up somewhat, and do the electronics bay. Then I have to paint it...oof.....thats going to be tough. I know, I know, I will get pics soon, but I have to study for my AP Calculus end-all-be-all-college-credit-huge-confusing-test tonight
