I guess I am going to build up a MB. I will try to turn the BNC-5BA cones myself (or at least try). I will need some extras for the mars snooper 2 I intend on doing, which is another story. . . .

Anyhow, I am looking at the JIMz plans & they talk about "shaped balsa" BF-TK5S. This is the raceway that runs along the top of the rocket.

Jimz plans dont show dimensions for that piece. Anybody cloned one of these mini's?

I am guessing my best bet is goto the Bomarc 654 & scale the https://www.dars.org/jimz/estes/est0654f.gif drawing. Does that make sense?

Anybody have any comments?

thanks in advance!
Tim

Actually all you do is reproduce the original kit. Actually there were 3 Bomarc kits made by Estes and one was a glider. With the Snooper II cones make....

The Mini Bomarc!

https://www.dars.org/jimz/est0805.htm

I did that a year ago on a limited run of ten kits.

Now what came out cool in the kits is that I provided both sets of decals. The U.S. and Canadian versions.

I built both for me.

Now what you have to do is modify a SEMROC rocket Rack

https://www.semroc.com/Store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=312

Just lower the angle a bit and the Bomarcs look cool on it.

Add a lot of nose weight to the Mini-Bomarc, I had one flight that wasn't very pretty...but no damage.

If you give up let me know, I may have parts left and I'll see what I can put together for you.

Boeing Bomarc is my all time favorite Scale subject. I think I have 5 different scale from MMX to 4Dcluster BT-80, and a BT101- RC gliding unit in the works.
Attached is a 4 view Airforce drawing I use for most of the Scale work. AS a point of reference the vehicle main body is 35" in diameter. Estes mini bomarc is approximately 1:48 scale you can determine the exact size and shape for the wiring tunnel from this drawing. Sorry the drawing is kind of dark and dirty but it's the best the Nasm archive library has:(
Hope this helps.

MRC had a line of models that used this NON thrusting 7 second burn smoke producing units. they are 6mm (about the same dia. as Micro-maxx motors) but a little longer. produced a very nice thick white smoke effect. I bought a bunch while they were in production, and have used them in scale model competition for a long while. They are a great little unit. Wonderful for those long 10sec countdowns, having them start at about T-6 or so. Here a 4 shot liftoff of my BT-80 size Bomarc that shows the smokers at work in the second photo
