This is basically a small jig saw. It’d be just the thing if you like to do noodly fins in weird shapes or for making other oddball parts. Due to it’s small size it taps out at like eighth inch thick plywood and really does best with materials like 1/8” or 3/32” basswood. I’m the original owner. It all works and its all there. Some kinda knob looking thing is broken, but I don’t think I ever even used that part, it’s like an accessory for some feature I never needed.

A quality machine not harbor freight junk.

I think a hunnerd bucks shipped US is fair. Hit me up.

I might be interested. What type of blade does it use? I need to be able to cut metal, so it would need to be able to use a diamond or similar wire blade.

I'm thinking that's a no-go. I checked their website and it looks like wood/plastic cutting blades only.

I looked at the site, but the pictures aren't clear enough for me to understand how the blades are installed. On my big scroll saw, it uses the pinned type blades, so I don't have a good option. If these blades are clamped vs. pinned, I might be able to buy the diamond blade from a different source.

If its convenient to get a picture of the ends of a blade and the spot it attaches to the machine, I might be able to figure out if it will work for my application. If so, I'm fine with your price.

watch the video on how to change the blades on their website

@J Blatz I am still interested, so if you can send a pic or two of the blade and how it attaches, I'll be able to determine if it will clamp the blade style I want to use.

Sandy.

Understood. That video is of the 'new and improved' version, but I imagine it is the same, which is why I think it'll work for me. As far as asking the OP for some pictures. . . https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/i-got-my-account-back.177634/#post-2383125 .

I'm sure the real J Blatz is a stand-up guy, but given the recent hacking/sale stuff, just trying to do my due diligence and make sure we both have a perfect transaction. I'm 99% sure he's the same guy, but I was also 99% sure prior to the Jazzviper1 issue that happened and would have bought some cases if I had Zenmo. To be clear, I'm not saying either of the two rocket forum real members are what I'm concerned about, its the &H!*-bag scammers that are ruining everything by hacking legit people's accounts. . .

I understand your caution. Tell ya what, I'm off work thursday and I'll take some more detailed pics then.

BTW I have sold many items here, probably 6-8 things in the last month or so...

Ok hopefully these will be helpful. The blade is held in place by Allen screws on both ends.

Just as a follow-up, the saw arrived while I was out of town last week and I finally got a chance to check it out. It was well packed and 100% as advertised. I'm not sure it will do what I need it to do, but that's on me, not the seller. J Blatz was easy to work with and 100% smooth transaction. Hopefully I'll be able to get the type of blade I think I need to do the job. I think the overall quality of the saw from a design standpoint is pretty good. It does have a bunch of plastic and cast aluminum, so its not going to be a monster, but the goal is to do one specific task and I think it should work well, assuming I can get the right type of blade.

Thanks JB!!!

Sandy.

From their website, showing 3 Blades for metal:
  • Standard saw blades with plain end, for use with the MicroLux® Multi-Saw,#60514 and #84641,16” Scroll Saw (available separately). Blades #60496, #60497 and #60498 are for cutting wood and plastic. Blades #60503, #60504 and #60505 are for cutting metal and plastic. 12 blades per package. For spiral blades, which cut in any direction, see #81117. For Premium blades, see #80856 and #80857. Note: Blade dimensions subject to 10% variation.
Choose from the following blades and make selection above:

#60503 Saw Blades (.024" x .012", 48 tpi) for metal and plastic; plain end

#60504 Saw Blades (.033" x .016", 36 tpi) for metal and plastic; plain end

#60505 Saw Blades (.041" x .019", 30 tpi) for metal and plastic; plain end

FYI, I purchase my blades from https://www.olsonsaw.net/cat/scroll-saw-blades/

May not be the least expensive, but very good quality.

Hope that helps.

Roy
Thanks for the link. That looks like a good source for normal blades. I'll buy some from them when I get more blades for my regular scroll saw.

I'm hoping to be able to cut slots in thin stainless steel discs (0.006"-0.015") using a diamond coated wire blade. It might be a total fail, but I'm going to give it a try. Currently I'm using a Dremel with the cut-off discs, but I'd like a little more control. We'll see. Either big win or total fail, most likely.

As a general rule for bandsaws, you want 1.5-2.5 teeth in the material at any given point to prevent material/tooth shearing. Since my goal is 0.006"-0.015", that would be roughly 300 TPI, which isn't going to happen. I'm hoping the diamond wire works, but if not, it's all good and I'll pass the saw along to someone else. I know I'm trying something it isn't at all designed for, but sometimes things work outside of the original design intent. As I say, we'll see.
