Poor guy. They send him up to Mir, and he goes through hell; fires, smells, collisions, you name it. So you figure, the ISS isn't getting regular shuttle support anymore and we're cutting the crew back, who better to send into space? Who in the American space program, aside from the Apollo 13 crew, has experience dealing with that kind of disaster? If anything goes wrong in space, Foale is the man you want on scene, because he's been there.

Tonight mission control radios up, "Hey Mike and Alex... not to worry you or anything, but you're slowly losing air pressure. Nothing you can do about it for now, so pack a lunch in the Soyuz just in case and we'll hunt the leak down in the morning. Sleep tight."

If NASA told me my air supply was in jeopardy, I'd be sleeping in my hardsuit.
