Hey Guy's,

Thinking about something different or odd to ring in another rocket season.

A Mega Rebel is different enough but a 2x version would give me options. It's not an exact upscale but similar design as I want the area where the fins meet the airframe wider and keep the frame in one solid piece using rear deployment with electronics. It comes to 36" in length with a body max diameter of 13" and a fin span of 15". The airframe would be 2.5" with a 38mm hole. Here's a rough sketch with the original 18" version shaded at the bottom.

Anyone tried this?

I have not tried up-sizing the Mega Rebel. And I really don't know what I am talking about...….:p

I have done a little research [Google], and it seems fin clearance from the body is a big deal. I don't know if upsizing the Mega Rebel will satisfy the design/fin arrangement.

I did find something called Team Vatsaas. Might be useful.....or not.

I think there's a lot of drivers in the overall equation on rocket stability. I've had good success with military scale rockets with small fins that unlike their counterparts don't have guidance systems. I built a MGM140 that flew true several times. Below its on a K-550W compared to the real deal.

I'm going to try and source some 1/4", 8"x36" plywood and start building the frame.
