For all of you that reached out to me over the last few days, thank you for your concern for our well being. Making nation wide news is not an everyday occurrence for our small city in the middle of Michigan. We survived with no water in the basement, no sewage seeping, no loss of power and our means of auto egress has been restored to ensure we can replenish the staples of life. Our community, as a whole, has been devastated. Freeways, bridges, local roads, in some areas, have been washed out. Some folks literally watched their homes in Sanford float away and crash to debris against the Sanford dam. Others in Sanford lost their docks, boats and sea walls.
Meanwhile, downstream from the Sanford dam, Midland prepared for the potential of 38 ft river water over the past 48 hours. Highlights include no loss of life or serious injuries, FEMA and National Guard support efforts and rapid receding of the flood waters. However, over 10,000 people were ordered to evacuate. Many evacuated families returned to their homes today to discover several feet of water in their basements.
Very thankful our family wasn't impacted amidst very unusual circumstances with cv19. Our community has shown remarkable resiliency and all are pitching in to help one another with recovery and remediation efforts.

Appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers for the cities of Edenville, Sanford, Midland, Saginaw and surrounding areas.
Eric
