I needed a small and simple rail-based launch setup so I decided to 3D print an adapter that would let me connect the 10mm makerbeam to the Estes standard launch rod legs. In addition, I bought a tent stake and drilled a hole out of the top so that the makerbeam rail would have a solid anchor in the ground. Could probably use a smaller stake but this worked great for launches this weekend. I also think I could probably get rid of the legs (not sure they were even on the ground since the stake hit a rock several inches down). Obviously would not work in rocky terrain or during the height of winter.

Here are some of the launches so you can gauge for yourself (these were some heavy rockets -- at least one is up around 300 grams)...

Mach 1 Rocketry supplies rail buttons for their smaller kits that fit the Makerbeams.
I believe they are called micro rail buttons.
