MAC - Scorpion

Just finished my MAC Scorpion. NICE kit. RocketPoxy joints, 4500 fillets, Montana Gold paint, RRC3 computer, Fruity laundry, OBH kevlar harnesses, MAC nose cone tracker bay, MW RTx tracker in the nose, keyed avionics bay, PEM nuts/4-40 screws to hold the avionics bay to the payload bay.

Nice! I am a HUGE fan of MAC Performance and the Scorpion. Mike did a 3" custom one for me with a boat tail. He also did a 4" version which I will get to building one of these days.

Here is my 54mm Scorpion with Stickershock decals

Both are single-deploy, both have a nose cone bay, and both have a 38mm motor mount. But (obviously) I went i different directions for finishing them...

Last year at URRF, I asked Mike Crupe to put together a custom scorpion for me that included:

- Fiberglass boat-tail & nosecone
- Stretched to accommodate a Loki 54/2800 case with extended forward closure
- G10 Av Bay lids instead of plywood
- Nosecone set up for a GPS

The results are shown here. Initial flight was at mini-MWP on a 54mm 3-grain Research J motor to 6291. I was impressed! Plan is to fly her on a 54mm K767 Research motor at URRF and a Loki L1040 red at A.I.R. Fest.

Nice, I will be interested to see how well she handles the Loki L1040 Red. Post some flight pics, if you get them, back here.
