Lucerne Valley Lakebed CA...

Hey guys, Needed a little help from a certain member. Someone launches at the Lucerne Valley Dry Lake bed in CA. I live fairly close and i am looking for a new place to launch and the lakebed looks perfect. Use to launch at a turf field, but the owner sold it to the school disdrict and...there went my launch field. My launches are big family events and would like any info on the lakebed you can give me. Best days to launch,which part to go to, do i need contact anyone,etc. If you would be so kind to help me out i would appreciate it. Thanks, Brett

Rocketry Organization of California uses Lucerne Valley. They are probably your best bet in regards for land usage and how that's structured. I think it's commendable that you've asked first. Some organizations have lost their fields because people will go on their own when the club isn't in session and ruined the agreement with the land owner. Granted, Lucerne can belong to the government for all I know, but glad to see some manners in play.

ROC is the largest user for rocketry (Model and High Power).

SCRA is a minor user for Model Rocketry only.

ROC has High Power permits and FAA waivers.

SCRA is not involved in HPR, so no waivers or HPR permits are required.
