Anyone seen/built/flown an LOC Door Knob, yet? I saw it on their web site while planning how to spend some of my tax refund this year.

Take a look.

I am a fan of the short fat rockets, you can put a big motor in and watch the flight and it won't disappear out of sight. The Door Knob and the Warlock from LOC were both on my short list but I ended up choosing the Thumper from Polecat Aerospace because it comes with the airframe already fiber glassed, but it did not include parachute or decals. I don't think you will be disappointed with the Door Knob.

I think it would be a good rocket to own but I'd look for the correct paint job for it. (I like scale rockets to look scale, but that's just me:) )

I have a friend (Gabe) who did his L2 with one.

It's better then the Warlock in that it has four fins.
This makes it more stable so you can put larger motors in it.

Done on a Jig like Gabe did, it turns in no spin flights.

If I get his one I'll paint it to scale(like). the Doorknob wasn my edition of Rockets of the world. Couldn't find any pic of it on the net either. Can anyone post one? or, direct me to it?

I also like the stubbies with a big GREEN motor and low flight. Way too cool. The Warlock is on my list, too. Just can't figure out which one to get first!!

Done properly to scale, it should also be built as a two stage rocket :D

That would be amazing....

Almost 2 years ago, Barry at Loc indicated that he was thinking of making this in a 2-stage version also. If anyone wants it--I suggest we let Barry know.

I can't remember when it was printed but there was a good article in Sport Rocketry a while back.......

It's in the 2002 Supplement. https://www.arapress.com/rotw_sup2002.html
OR NARTS- https://www.nar.org/NARTS/index.html

And here's a few of pics from Peter's scale directory on Jim Ball's site

EDIT: Just hacked the ROL mirror. Seems only the link from the Jim Ball main page is wrong. Go here
for the doorknob photos and others-

** Kevin, weren't you going to fix Peter's missing stuff on the ROL
archive of Jim's stuff???

IIRC, Peter had posted on the scaleroc list, there was an error
of some kind in the SR version of the data.

One of the guys in our club built one, here is a liftoff shot on a J350 at our
October,2008 launch. Sorry it's a little blurry, it was moving fast.

IIRC, Doorknob was launched as a single stage rocket as well as a two stage. Yeah, a two-stage version of this would be cool, but I don't think it is required to be scale

Not quite a two stage but with a 7.5" airframe there is lots of room to add outboard motors to have fun with clusters and or airstarting. I am sure LOC has the centering rings avalable. Just remember to plug the unused motor tubes or else you could get a little extra boost out of the motor tubes inistead of ejecting the nosecone

Good 'ol Gumbert's, I lost my 4" Thor there... :(

I emailed Loc to get some info on this rocket cause I wanted to make a 2 stage version as soon as I saw it on their website. I have yet to get a response. :(
