LOC Black Brant X build question

I'm working on an LOC Precision Black Brant X: https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocket-Kits/Skill-Level-3-Model-Rocket-Kits/Black-Brant-X#rocksim

The confusion is that the lug they included is REALLY long (a full 6"), but the instructions don't say anything except for to place it against a fin.

I've never seen a launch lug that is this long, am I meant to cut it into pieces perhaps?

That is pretty standard for LOC kits. You can leave it alone but personally, I would cut it into 2 pieces and mount one near the aft end and the other near the CG. And I wouldn't mount it on the fin but rather midway between a pair of fins.

With a 29mmt, a set of rail buttons might be a good idea for this rocket.

Thats what I did with mine. I epoxied the rail guides directly to the airframe. I have used that method on several rockets with no issues.
