LOC 429ss motor selection.

I used a few different search terms here but cant seem to find much on the 429 here.
anyhooo, I scratchbuilt a 429ss from parts I had laying around. and now time to decide maiden flight motors. im thinkin a pair of AT F50's maiden flight.
then got to surfin the web and didn't find much on what others have stuffed in their 429, which most of what I found ws on rocketreviews.
soooo, anyone care to share their motor choices and experiences with them choices? im getting rather geeked to get some rockets up. I PLANNED a few eeks ago, which was going to involve a G75 in my hawk, but plans changed.
now im planning this weekend, but those plans may change.
heck, I took my great nephew(3 years old) out to the little park behind us yesterday to launch a couple estes rockets. he was all excited. had a little problem with my little estes lancher so we walked back and WE fixed it. yes, WE- tht lil guy is always wanting to help 'fix it." got back to the park, pencil rocket on the pad....then the wind picked up instantly. it bummed me out, the lil guy took it better than me!!! he just wanted to play.LOLOL

I tried mine on a pair of H194's. but only one lit. I've got some more motors to try, after I get around to replacing the main body tube, which kinked when it landsharked.

On that rocket, that is a very good choice. I've done it a few times. Another good choice is 4X G77R

I saw one go up on 4 G64's. Never saw it come down tho..
I tried 4 G75 Metalstorm SU in mine, but only one lit. Went south like a bat outta heck never to be seen again...
My replacement is gonna have 2 AT I200's and airstart 2 CTI 6XL H226SK's when I figure out the AV bay...

My 4-29SS has an altimeter bay so I don't have to worry about delays. Most flights lift off on 2 motors and airstart the other 2. Weight ready to fly except motors is just over 3 lb.

I used 4 G74-9 (econo motors) and an JL Chute release 3 times. Just make sure your launcher battery has a way hot "spark"! Fourth time tried it on a not to hot one (didn't measure the battery voltage beforehand) and only one motor lit. It actually went rather straight up but only about 75'. Landed hard on its tail. Broke her back. Sorta sad way to go really. The battery measured at about 11v on a deep-cycle 12v when I checked afterwards. My bad!

awesome to read all the 4-29's and motor selections!
i was thinkin last night iffen the G75j could be lit quickly it would be a pretty awesome sight with a pair or 4 in it.

A friend fly's it all the time on 2 G53FJ's with no issues at all. He is less successful with G76's which are harder to get to light at the same time.

Clustering I've found blues to be best. a pair of G80T's would really rip...

All this 4-29ss talk I'm eventually going to break and buy one. The JL release pulled my last excuse to not get one.

My first flight was (2) F50Ts, also flown on (2) G64Ws and again on (2)H195NTs. All great flights. It got it on those H195NTs!

I really want to do (4) G77Rs. It would be a beautiful flame!

A pair of G80's air starting 2 f20w. remember one thing. Chute release or altimeter is your friend with clusters.

This is exactly the set-up I've flown. The 9 seconds is a little early, but no zippers, etc. Nice, really fast flight and reasonably priced. Two of these in the G74-6 configuration would likely also be really good for a first flight.
