I was asked a couple times at LDRS if I would do the Colonial Viper kit again. I am going to do a Preorder Limited Run. I will only be making what is ordered, so if you ever wanted this kit do not miss out.

I will be taking orders till 6/21. Kits will start shipping 14 to 21 days after 6/21. They may ship sooner depending on how fast all materials get here.

Follow the link below to place your order.

Since this looks like it will be single deploy, I will take the one you build to prove out the kit. 😇

I think I saw one of these being shown around in the Dragon tent at LDRS… it was very very impressive. Disappointed I never got a chance to visit the tent while I was there.

Yes there was a gentleman that was doing his cert on one. Had a great flight but recovery was not so good as the chute release failed. Luckly there was no major damage and could be fixed.

Dang - this is an amazing looking kit. If you still have one next week I might lose my resolve not to buy any more kits for a while!

I really wanted to fly mine at LDRS and had it in primer, but I ended up having to spend all my time repairing my L3 rocket and flying that. Only launch I got in.
Great kit though and I was thinking of making it dd using one of the av bays from another Dragon kit like my Exocet.

Is there video of his flight? I am very curious about it before I launch mine.

You have till the end of next week to get your order in as these are preorder only. I am not stocking this kit.

I am not sure if there was. The flight was straight, and it deployed just fine. He used a jolly logic and it failed to release the chute.
Do you know the motor he used? I would like to use the same given it was a good flight.

So even though I wasn't going to order any more kits for a while, I ended up ordering a second one of this since I think it's too cool. If I crash or lose my current one, I'll have a backup.

I do not remember the motor other than it was an I motor and single use. We did have to up his nose weight. He had a total of about 1.5 pounds

I will not be doing one again. I have already built one of these 4 times and ended up giving them away except for the one that got smashed by a tote full of centering rings.
That's a shame. I'm surprised given all the interest I had seen. Possibly many are intimidated by how complex it appears?

OOC what's your most popular kit?

I might have to order one so I can be that guy that has one a year from now when you guys finish them and someone wants one bad.

I ended up giving them to kids because they liked it and mom and dad would not get them one. This is not one of my favorite kits so giving them away was no big deal. I may build one this time and keep it, but it will be a modified version of this kit.

You sir are an awesome guy. May great karma come your way.

The number one rule with JLCR is to ensure it's on. Then after the rocket's prepped on the pad, doubt yourself and go back out there to check again, much to the annoyance of everyone else waiting. :)

Actually the #1 rule can change depending on the value of your rocket.

#1A: Ensure it's attached. I've seen at least one fall free of the rocket and have heard of others losing theirs. Becomes a very pricey one-time chute release!

And doubt that you attached the JLCR then go back to check again... :)

I have pretty good luck with the JLCR personally. I think the fact that it doesn't beep or otherwise transmit its status is a weak point.

I am just going to measure this one so I can make a 7.5 inch version for level 3.

Me and Kian were talking about doing a 7.68" dia version on Sunday at the launch. It is going to be a monster.
