I haven't seen a gyroc in 20 years! Did you build a clone or just buy it somewhere?

sj h1,

Were you asking me about the Gyroc? I downloaded the plans from jimz and made my own. I recently saw a clone by BMS being offered on jonrockets website.

with the old TRF 1 coming back next month (ish), do people want to add the two totals together,or keep this total is it is?

I would just leave that thread as the 2008 total and continue this one for 2009. Any other thoughts?

I say keep them seperate and try to make it to space in 2009.

Had my Pollard Elementary class fly yesterday:

100 Thing-a-ma-Jig kits to about 300 feet each for a total of 30,000 feet....

New Total 77,844

Now, THAT'S a nice jump! :)

My son, John, and I did a little bit of flying with DARS this weekend and despite the rather windy conditions a lot of people where in attendance.

John's Patriot flight #42 on a B6-4: ~250 ft.
John's Baby Bertha flight #12 on a B6-4: ~350 ft.

I also launched a mid-power on an F52-8T which I was glad to recover within the flying field.

The rest of the afternoon was spent on rocket hound duty with a number of DARS members who successfully recovered a nice TARC rocket that had landed in a large corn field.

+600 ft.

Best Regards;
Richard

You know, if Jim would just do a few more school events the rest of us could just kick back and take it easy. Come on Jim!

I'm working on making a BT-60 altimeter bay so I can get a better idea of the altitude of some of my D powered rockets. I'll be doing BT-50 and BT-55 bays too.

I worked from home today and only supposed to put in haf a day. I snuck out and launched a few before it got to hot this weekend.

I also wanted to try my new BT-60 altimeter bay. A little rocket surgery was required in the field to get the altimeter bay configured properly. Maybe next time I will remember to test fit stuff before heading to the field... nah!

1/73rd Gemini-Titan- B6-4: 260feet
Total: 921 feet

New Total: 88,783 feet.

Zeus is a scratchbuilt rocket I made a few years back. I made a new BT-50 altimeter bay and launched it three times this morning. I overwrote the C6-5 data as I had a false start on the altimeter setting up the first D12-7 flight. The altimeter holds data for three flights and it wasn't until I got home that I releasized the false start meant I could only fly one D12 flight without erasing the C6 data - dang!

Zeus C6-5 450 feet (estimated)
Zeus D12-7 920 feet
Zeus D12-7 874 feet

Total 2,244

New Total 91,027

I went back and launched my C6 flight later that same day. There was a big horse-riding event going on, so I only launched once. The horses weren't near me, but I didn't want to make too much noise and disturb.

Zeus C6-5 406 feet

Total 406

Two more launches on July 30th

Zeus C6-5 406 feet
Zeus C6-5 368 feet

On the first Anubis launch I had to use the nose cone from the Launch Pad's Bolo. That nose cone is weighted and the additional weight caused the flight to be less than spectacular.

If anyone is considering getting The Amazing Point from Semroc I highly recommend they get the version that has the grass-seeking nose. I have the version withteh pavement-seeking nose and the rocket has to go into the paint shop after every flight!
