yeah yeah, a Lego build on a rocket forum, blah blah blah.. ;)

1) I've just started flying again, from a 2 yr hiatus. SO, all my rockets are built. I just need to catch up flying them!
(Me last week:)

2) There was some interest in Antares's Lego Titanic build. Although notably, this one is a much smaller build..

3) And its Lego. Everyone loves Lego. and it's a spaceship! (so it has that "rocket' twist..)

This is Lego's 90th anniversary re-release of their 1980's 'classic space' flagship LL928. I had the ('have' I guess!) the two smaller ships, but never this one. So it had a deeper want that other recent kits.
The price was right, and as I build it, it is quite large! The one drawback here, is that I would have paid an extra $20 for a baseplate, as the original came with.

I'm currently on bag 5 as I write this, and am enjoying the intricacies with the build so far.

You could always attach a motor in the back when it's done. 💥 😄 (probably not a good idea)

Unboxing:

The box is pretty large, and has some good close ups of just some of the neat details in this build.

Inside the box are 9 poly bag of parts, totaling 1254 pieces ( $149/1254 = about $.11 per piece. Average.)

No stickers, Yeah! (Despite a huge sticker collection! jut always hate Lego + stickers.)

The instruction book is strewn with bits of history & the development of the kit. Nice.

Now, before I built this kit, I needed the reference. So (thanks google!) I got the plans for the original 'LL928' and built one. Took about an hour (1.5 with getting / digging for the parts!). built over 25 steps..

(for the most part, the parts are right. the colours may be off, but you get the idea! )

Bag 1:

lego Hint #17:
Buy your dearest a large box of chocolates.
Keep the box!

We now build out this 'tray'!

bag 1, teh internal skeleton.

Here, we star tot e build teh main frame of the vehicle. Notable are the landing gear, and the rear ramp.

teh landing gear are pretty neat, and they fold up & inside into little pockets. They are nicely done, having don similar in some of my builds.
