A quick question here:
What can be substituted for a factory made launch lug. I ned a launch lug for a 5mm or 6mm rod and didnt have one. My local hobby shop doesnt carry them and I dont want to order one. Would a straw be strong enough? Is there something else I can use?

Thanks

I have used a plastic soda straw before. The problem isn't strength, its the ability to get the glue to stick. I like the aluminum tubing that you can get in various sizes from most hobby stores. You can also use brass, but I prefer the look of aluminum.

Paul,

If you reload, the paper tubes that hold the ignitors can be used for launch lugs. The smaller ones will fit 1/8" rods, while the HPR Firstfire tubes are great for 1/4" launch rods. I have several of each laying around just for that reason.

I have used the ignitor tubes too. Even if you don't use reloads you can usually find them here and there at a launch.
