Made and installed the ballast on the nose cone today. I used 4 fender washers and turned them down to size on my drill press. To hold them onto the nose cone I crushed a 5/16" nut over the nose cone insert.

Nice. Not too different from what I did on the IRIS-T except I didn't use the nut, and just epoxied the heck out of everything.

Come to think of it, what exactly is holding your nut on, if that's not too personal a question? ;)

Thanks. I'm slowly getting my home made 12V DeWalt drill driver battery pack powered launch controller put together.. but life gets in the way of hobbies.

    Life's a journey... not a destination.

I'll be sure to "Lock S-foils in attack position....." :)

I'm thinking a LPR (D12) canted cluster. Another scratch build, perhaps in the theme of a '60's era musclecar..

So... Have you finished up on this one? I've been following the lifting rocket too thinking you'd be switching back and forth.

    Thanks for following along.

The X-wing is done. It'll fly at some point this year.

Good decision. With that motor and short body tube, likely to be a very powerful ejection.

    Glad you like the X-Wing.

Might I suggest that you start a build thread here so we can see how things progress with your rocket.

Created a CAD drawing of the TIE XI booster stage today. Should be fairly simple except for turning the fuselage on the lathe... which may not be to bad, never tried to turn a sphere before.

If you rotate Darth 90deg of a barrel roll you can eliminate the stuffer tube and substantially improve the stack overall CG/CP relationship.

However, aesthetically it may not be as pleasing which can be fairly important on a bird like this.

My 18 mm version of the Centuri Design Contest model really scoots. I imagine that your 24 mm version will totally scream off the pad. Very nice finishing, nothing drab about it other than that nice shade of US ARMY olive.

I know people have used ping pong balls before. Those would be too small for your scale,

    Christmas is coming.
Hobby Lobby may have some spherical plastic Christmas ornaments in varying sizes....

Has the X wing flown single stage yet?

They were putting out Christmas stuff in my local Hobby Lobby this past weekend.

Your Tie Fighter design is very cool!
