Well, going to give the L2 Cert a shot this Sunday in Culpeper, VA. Going to fly my BSD Thor (pic below.. I finally learned how to insert 'em!!) on a J420R. So excited I can hardly stand it....

I know a few other guys that are going to be attempting the L2 as well this weekend.... Best of Luck, Gentlemen!

Nice looking bird Matt. Good luck with your L2 Cert flight and let us know how it turns out. Hope to see ya again soon at Whitakers.

It appears as though I will be a member of the "L2 Attempt with a BSD Thor on March 20, 2004" club too :) 'Cept I'm going to do it with a Pro38 J285... :D (It's also going to be the maiden voyage for my BSD Apache [included in picture] on a Pro38 I205, too!)

Best of luck to everyone!

All - Thanks for the kind words!

Paul - Thanks....I hope to get to Whitakers in April for the 2-day Sport... there's a rumor that there may be a Thor drag-race, and I've been told mine may be one of them.....should be a great time...

Eric - Yep.. I wish you could make it too...I'll get shots of all the SEVRA L2 cert flights and get them to you, as well as posting some of them here...

Lance and Jason - Best of Luck to you both! Talk about "The Weekend of The Thor"....:D

Well the forecasted wind is going through the roof so it looks like I may not be making any attempts this weekend..

Depending on which site i use for the forecast the winds look to be in the 25mph plus range most of the day, not really willing to make a 7 to 8 hour round trip drive for those kind of conditions.

Sooooooo

Looks like the TRF meet in Whitakers next month may be my cert attempt..

I swear I'm gonna join TRA just so I can sign off on your flight, J....heh..

Well, today did & didn't go so well...

I started out the day by taking the NAR L2 test. I passed with flying colors :) The weather, which had been forecast for almost a week as "Mostly sunny" turned "Very windy with occasional showers" :( Not only that, but the onsite vendor didn't have any Pro38 5-grain motors. I wasn't going to let that dampen my spirits (pardon the pun) as I had numerous things to also look forward too.

I managed to get my hands on a Pro38 6-grain (J330) & only need for the wind to die down... No such luck (& I decided to scrap my attempt today) but I took a chance & launched my BSD Apache on a Pro38 H153 (2-grain)--although I'd wanted to do it on a I205 (3-grain). It was quite a consolation flight indeed :D I can't wait to try it again next month with the I205! Not to mention my L2 flight attempt.

Hope everyone had better conditions than I did...

Well Lance, I know how you feel.. Culpeper, VA wasn't the place to be either today in regards to the weather conditions. We had a steady 15-20 mph wind and gusts somewhere in the 30'ish mph range. Took and passed the test though, so at least that's part of it out of the way.

On the plus side, the way things are working out, it looks like I may be able to try it again next month at Whitakers ; my brother's coming out here to the East Coast, and I guess it would be pretty cool for both of us to do our L2 cert flights there on our Thors...

If I start praying for decent weather now......
