Just stumbled across this. Anyone ever try it?
https://www.amazon.com/KOALA-Waterslide-Printers-Coating-Tumbler/dp/B09CTKNRC1/Seems to work for at least some of the reviewers, although it is apparently somewhat thicker than the usual waterslide paper, and available only in white-backed paper. That's where I typically run into problems with my inkjet printing.

I'm thinking that even if I clear coat this for extra protection, maybe I can it to work. Might just have to grab a pack to try out.
 
I printed decals on laser printer at eRockets, few months back. No need to apply clear coat over those decals, prior to applying decals. Those decals came out great.

You do have to have a printer that can handle the thicker stock, and printer needs to be set to handle the thicker stock for that print job.

That was with laser printer, not inkjet printer.
