I also converted my other klingon that I have a pusher electric motor installed in to also have a clear tail. I also took the time to remove the flat styrene bridge bottom plate and make a rounded front bottom for the bridge section since the pusher doesn't need the launch rail I don't need the bottom to be flat.
Here she is in flight, along with flashing LED "photon" torpedo in the nose.

That is VERY effective in changing the look of the model. I found polycarbonate sheet as thin as .020 on Amazon....do you have a local source for .015 sheet?

I haven't flown mine since I made that stupid CG mistake that was on display at Sod Blaster II, but I do have two packs of motors. Doing this mod would be a way to get my head back into flying it.

I got mine at tap plastics about a half hour away from here, I'm not exactly sure, it might be .02, I was guessing at 1/64", I cut the tail down about 1/2" in height and shortened it a bit chordwise so it would slot into the rear bridge and not overhang, it's a bit flexy but seems to work fine.

AND a Romulan "Bird of Prey" !

Dave F.
CG for that would be in the forward 25% of the disk and with a rear mounted motor it's so short the nose weight would be prohibitive at almost any size...it would look funny with a pod mounted forward motor....

Some video captures during photon torpedo firing...
Any chance it coming back as a kit we can purchase? [grin]
I don't think the demand is there, It's a lot of parts to hand cut and special tubing and lengths I normally don't use but we'll see.

I did a quick modification to my rocket powered version to put a more rounded look on the forward bridge, it needed to be in two pieces to clear the launch rail, there just isn't a better place to put the rail buttons than straight on the bottom of the tube. I trimmed off the styrene bottom plate and cut it narrower to save weight then made the two rounded portions and glued them on. I think from the bottom and side views it will look better than just the flat original version.
I flew it three times I just got a little bit of tail shimmy but it was a little breezy out so I could have just been that but I think it looks better.

I measured it today it is .035" polycarbonate.

Thanks, Frank. So, 1/32 or so. That makes more sense with your comment about the added weight.

I might get this done for Sod Blaster IV, but it’s down a ways on the list of projects.

I'm trying to get three more people to justify getting the tubing that I need, I've simplified construction slightly and will include the clear fin in this run they would be $80 shipped.

I hope I'm already included. If not, then you only need one more. [grin]

As I was re-working my kit for the new clear tail, I came up with a better method to have a more rounded nose/bridge section which also allowed me to place the battery up front under the open bridge reducing nose weight required. It also doesn't stick down as far allowing me to use standard rail buttons without extra standoffs. I also worked out a hatch mechanism to hide the receiver in the body tube and make the bottom much cleaner looking.

Just curious: Have you ever tried flying the Battlecruiser WITHOUT a rudder?

I have wondered if the warp pods/nacelles (on the wingtips) might give sufficient stability.

No, I'm not a fan of failure and I'd have to test it to failure to be sure...
