I Thought I would share my latest "large" project. It all started one day walking thru a Target store before Halloween. I saw this shirt that sat "Batattitude" on the front of it. All of the sudden BAM!, I had a vision. It would be awesome to make a "BAT" rocket.

Over the last couple of months I have been thinking about size and fin design. I started searching the web for different designs of bat wings, and I found one I liked pretty quick. Now that I had that, I had my son (he loves to draw and can draw some amazing stuff) draw tha basic rough design on paper so I could get a template. After pruchasing all the supplies and parts I would need, building has begun.

This first pic is the picture of the bat wing design that I found on the web and have used to get the basic design for the wings.

Next is a shot of two of the 1/4" plywood fins next to each other to give an idea of what they will look like on the rocket.

Finally, here is a shot of the wings/fins just laying against the tube to get an idea of what this thing is going to look like.

Well, there it is so far. Some of the details are that this is going to be 6.5' tall, 54mm motor. I plan on painting it black with bat decals that are outlined in florescent green and glow in the dark with a pair of mean looking bat eyes on the nose. I am also going to highlight the wings with white or grey lines so that they will show the bones in the wings like on the original drawing. I have a 17" payload section that I want to put a camera in. I am toying with the idea of making this a cluster with either a 54mm main and two 38's or two 29's on the sides of the 54.

I will update this thread as construction moves along, but at times there may be a period on no activity since I am planning on taking my time to get everything perfect.

Thanks for looking and I welcome all comments and any cool ideas and/or suggestions.
