We're about as prepared as we can be for the hurricane. Our biggest concern about the storm is the loss of electricity. The power companies do an extraordinary job getting power reconnected after storms, but they are going to be overwhelmed by a storm that threatens almost the entire state of Florida. And, we recently moved our home (and business) to a more rural area outside Orlando. Our area won't be a high priority for getting power restored because of the low population density (apparently cows don't count).

We stopped accepting orders through our web site and eBay today. We have processed all pending orders and will get the packages in the mail tomorrow. They should make it out before the storm arrives here on Sunday. (The only place I didn't see lines today was the Post Office!)

FL gets my sympathies also. SC & NC both, are in harms way as well. I'm in central NC and most everybody has gotten shell shocked (if you will) from having gone through HUGO. Just knowing what the CAT 1 portion of a hurricane this big is like, is enough to learn you how to prep the right way. Hunker down folks, gonna get mighty wet real soon.

I flew into Orlando this afternoon, going to see the storm from Disney Contemporary Resort.
It is supposed to be designed to withstand Cat 4+.

I want to say something but ain't going to say it. I will comment on the building though. They didn't build it like that to protect YOU. They did it so it would still be there.

Well, as of noon today the entire city of Savannah is mandatory evacuation....now everything east of I-95 mandatory...[entire county].
No gas anywhere. The Colonial pipeline which runs from Texas/Louisiana supplies Alabama-Georgia-Florida shut down last week. There was enough gas in storage for 3 weeks in normal circumstances, but Irma changed that...Lol.

I made it to Augusta where I'm holed up. I stopped there coming back from Airfest, knowing about Irma. Remember we got hit by Mathew last fall. My other 1/2 is stuck in Savannah. There is a military convoy escorting a huge line of fuel tankers on the way. How they will get through traffic backed up on I-95 for 3 states I don't know.

Fort Stewart is on lock-down after evacuating most personal.

Say whatever you want. It can't be worse than what my friends sat.

We live near Fort Lauderdale and left today for Naples, hoping Irma would go east. Instead, the track has moved westward. Tomorrow we are heading north to Sarasota, at the moment the forecast there is for just 40mph winds, which would not be too bad. But if Irma decides to come up the west coast we'll have to move further north.

Let's expand that to include all of our friends in the effected areas... That includes GA (where LW Bercini lives, and is battening down for the storm).

Looking at yesterday's tracking took the eye right over Macon and I had a fit. LW knows I went through HUGO and had a lot of questions seeing how this was his 1st hurricane. I've been a pretty good coach (I do believe) and with all the shifting this thing is doing, maybe they'll be spared. I'm sure, as we speak, they're battening down the hatches.

Hopes and prayers for you all. Your life is more valuable than your stuff, so if you can, get the heck out of there.

This morning light winds and rains. Pool is open!
Disney parked two monorails in the atrium of the hotel for storm protection.

We stayed up till 0200 watching the remnant eye wall pass. Was blowing at about 80.
The two largest buildings here form a V and when the wind shifted to coming from the SE it was forced to go between them. I can see 5 trees (6" trunks) knocked down. No other damage visible from windows.
We saw a bunch of green flashes lighting up the sky. Couldn't see the source as it was behind us.
Still blowing 35-40 mph.

We had no serious damage to our home or property, but our yard is a mess with downed trees and limbs. Our neighbor's yard is flooded and their utility lines are down along our fence. Our road is covered with limbs and trees. There are probably downed power lines on the road. It will be at least a few days before our power is restored and probably a few days before we can venture out of our yard.

Walking around this morning we found some interesting damage.
The building we are in is C shaped with the pool area sorta in the open center. The trees are damaged far worse than those in the open areas. Palm trees outside, no damage, inside some are just stumps.
It appears as if a vortex formed when the wind was parallel to the open side.
I bet the architect never thought of that one.
