Like many here I grew up building and flying small rockets with my dad. As life got busy into adulthood I stopped.

Getting back into it now and looking for more of a challenge so I'm getting into high power rocketry. Myself and a couple of good buddies got together and started our own team to pursue our goals and have fun. We are the Moonshine Missiles Rocket Team.

Our goals for this year are to get level 1 and 2 certification and we have a few personal interesting rocket designs that we'll be tinkering with throughout the year.

Excited for this adventure and looking forward to learning and having fun! We are in NE Oregon. If you see us at a launch feel free to say hey!

Welcome! What brought you back?

I became a BAR (born-again rocketeer, did it in the past and started again later), because my kids kept asking to watch videos of Grandpa’s launches on his phone. Decided if we were going to watch rocket launches, we’re not doing it from the couch on a 6” screen.

Started the build of our level 1 rocket last night. Made pretty good progress. Just have the external fin fillets, nose cone coupler and bulkhead, rail buttons and paint left.

You say "our", and maybe you know, but thought it would be good to double check that you guys know that cert rockets have to be built by the individual certifying. Your team members can't share an airframe to do all of your L1 cert flights with.

Great looking rocket though! Hope to see you guys at an Oregon Rocketry launch this year. We fly most months near Bend from April to November, weather/fire danger permitting. Although TCR and Tripoli Idaho might be close to Baker City than Bend. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions about certs and/or OROC launches!

Cheers,

Brian

Thanks Brian!

Yup this one is mine. The other guys are working on their own. We meet at my shop to work together once a week because, well it's just more fun! But thanks for looking out!

I actually just joined OROC! It's a bit of a drive but looks like a great launch site. The Idaho club and tri-cities are a bit closer but hope to make it out to Brother's for a launch or two.

I've seen that movie. Too bad you can't certify with your own moonshine motors. :(
