In search of launch controller plans

I am electrically challenged, but I am in need of a launch controller that can pump enough juice to ignite 4 Estes BP motors. Does anyone know of a website or a book with plans for a heavier-duty-than-a-9V-controller that are simple enough for a first time controller builder to understand? I figure this is a good excise to do myself. The last time I played with batteries I was burning up resistors in physics class in high school, which was 10 years ago. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Happy building!
