The "need for protection" can be imagined anywhere.
Never felt it myself.
Don't understand the mentality where you put yourself in a situation where you might need it............and I've been in some tough places around the world.

The best way to protect yourself is to stay away from situations where you might be in danger, can't always be done though.

I would venture to guess that in his 8 years away Portland has pretty much turned into a ghetto.
I never cared for living in Portland, but it WAS a fairly nice city.
Can”t say that any longer.
Always am entertained when random people answer questions that were asked to other people. Nobody asked you tsmmiller, yet you interject like a cancer.

Yes, I have visited, much to my consternation. Mrs likes one particular store downtown. What used to be a vibrant city is no longer. 30% vacancy rate of office space does not happen for no reason. The city is now a cess pool. Granted, some cleanup may be occurring now….but not much.
Glad you think it is still City of Roses, keep those rose colored glasses on!
Yet again, you just jump aboard with no basis, no one asked you this question.
If I ever meet you at a launch I'm buying all the beverages because I'm interested in how your little mind works.

I'd like to apologize to everyone for appearing to have dropped off the planet for a while, most of the last two months. It's been a kind of crazy time for me as I've just moved back to the United States last month, and tomorrow I start my trek from Southern Oregon to Dayton, Ohio.

The room that I've been holed up in while staying at my mom's doesn't have a chair, or a desk for me to type on my computer with, so it's been a real pain to do anything with the computer other than watch Youtube videos.

Medford? Safe trip.

Welcome back, Jim! I was off the forum for awhile and missed your announcement. So I also missed all the off-topic Portland bashing BS, which is probably a good thing. I hope you had a good visit with family, and I wish you the best of luck with your move to Dayton and everything to follow! I remember when you left for China, but I absolutely cannot believe it was over 8 years ago. Wow! Time flies. Anyway, I’m glad you came back. I feel like it was time.

Thanks Thirsty!!!! :)

If you flew in May, then we met. I'm the "Treasurer", that's the guy with the jar for the $5 event fee that is given to the Rogue Eagles R/C club.

Hans.
I was the fat guy who had the really, really bad bad suntan lotion on. I kind of looked like it was a actor who had not completely washed off the grease paint.

I was the one helping the father and son launched their Estes Astrocam

Ah, OK. I remember.

We had another nice launch yesterday. Well, except for me, as I had a flight that I forgot to turn back on the JLCR after testing it. Ouch.

Hans,

Crazy Rain on the way into Elko, NV... My door wasn't fully closed (Penske), but no sensor picked up on the door ajar. Then it rained the hardest I've ever seen (and I've lived in FL, TX, and MO)... Large marble sized drops w/hail, and I'm suddenly showered on my right side only (Mom is driving). Opened the door (intentionally, and managed to get it shut completely). Still it was deafening. Video later...

103 and sunny in Pahrump and pouring rain and hail in Elko. Sounds like the big thunder storm season is starting.
