I saw this link the other day and found the video interesting. Parts of it reminded me of how fireworks perform in the air.

surprisingly, there's a new term I haven't heard before: Hang fire.

In my club, we typically say that a motor "blew the igniter" or something similar (burnt the igniter, etc) if the motor fails to ignite. Is a "hang fire" any different? Or just different terminology?

I would not call this a hangfire. A hang fire would be when the igniter burns, some smoke, wait, nothing, wait, there it goes.
