Humidity and shelf life of Estes BP motors

I live in the swampy South. Buildings are generally A/Ced, but humidity is still higher indoors here than most places. Should I be hesitant to pick up those dusty old Estes motors at the LHS? Should I pay shipping for newer stock from an online supplier that likely turns it faster? Does it matter?

What issues are likely to be seen from five or more years of ambient high-ish humidity vs. lower humidity storage?

I put desiccant packs in my motor storage cases.

Obvious solution, but my concern is about before I get them.
