Howdy, new member here but a long time lurker.
I have been interested in aerospace for all my life and I figured I'd finally make an account here so I can ask questions and post about my experiences to help and learn from like minded folks.
This will be my 3rd year of doing High Power Rocketry, with my first two being in high school through a program called SystemsGo. Through that awesome program, I've launched a 1 pound to 1 mile rocket named Sabre, inspired from the F-86 Sabre, and a transonic rocket, Lazarus, inspired from the fact our previous rocket was, well, destroyed, and that this one would rise from its grave. Plus its a reference to one of the greatest films ever made, Interstellar. Of course I've also launched a few of the Estes models from hobby lobby too, but those aren't nearly as exciting as the big boys.

I'm proud to say I am a Freshmen Engineering major at Texas A&M, and I was able to join, and help found a brand new rocketry team here called Ignitors. We are competing in IREC, or the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition in the 10K Commercial Off The Shelf category this June. I'm also a member of our DBF team, or Design Build Fly, but that's more of a RC aircraft kinda deal, but still a lot of fun, and a lot of learning.

As of now, I'm the team of lead of recovery for Ignitors, and on the side I'm working on getting my first L certification, hoping to fly my project in the coming months when I'm not bogged down with work.

So howdy, I'm Andrew, I love everything aerospace, and I'm excited to learn and eventually get started in the aerospace industry!

Howdy Andrew! I did my MBA at TAMU, back in 2000-2002. Still miss Freebirds and Rudy’s.

Welcome.

Hopefully we see you at Hearne (right outside college station)! tripolihouston.com

Howdy and welcome! You will find a several people here are ESRA volunteers for IREC and also a few helping with the Loan Star Cup.

I’m sure I’ll see you at Seymour sometime!

Welcome. I have a friend who lives in College Station, though I doubt you'll run into him and I don't think he's into rockets.

Sounds like you have a lot of energy.

Welcome @Tang0Down !

There is a Tripoli Houston launch this Saturday at Hearne Muni Airport.

Looks like it might be a little windy but the wind direction (generally southerly ) is just about perfect for the site.

Come on over !

Just remember, if an Aggie flunks out of Texas A&M, they cut off his two middle fingers and send him Austin...
Whew !

I ended up at UC Berkeley after flunking out of A&M ... I think I may have had a lobotomy somewhere along the way, but at least I still have all my fingers :)

I do have 2 Aggies, a Cougar and a Longhorn among my 5 siblings ...

Q: What does a Longhorn calls an Aggie two years after graduation?

A: "Boss"

My son, who is a UT Aerospace grad and works at SpaceX, would like a word. He’s got a great story how an Aggie intern started a fire in the machine shop. Forever tainted Aggie interns at his location.

His boss is an MIT grad.
