Hell. Can you get the farmer to let you drain the canal with an irrigation pump of some sort? Drain the canal then walk up to the rocket? LOL rent-A-pump.

At least this thoroughly impractical idea isn't really unsafe. But take a look at the scale of the thing and go for a ballpark estimate of the water volume.
