How Many NAR Members Actually Compete In NRC Competition ???

For the answer, I went to the NAR's "NRC-scoreboard" ( Results are for 2021-2022 )

There are, currently, 8,850 NAR Members, per the July, 2022 "Electronic Rocketeer"

There will be folks flying at NARAM who aren't on the NRC scoreboard....and folks (a few, anyway) who fly other events that aren't captured on the scoreboard. But it is clear that active competitors are few. I am an on and off competitor myself, and haven't recorded a contest flight since the pandemic. I hope to change that the next contest year, which begins right after NARAM. And it will be interesting to see what happens with NARAM next year (the whole sport range discussion notwithstanding) since the timing is likely to be pretty close to the World Championships held in Texas next summer (and to which I've already committed to help run on days that require altimeter use).

I was also disappointed to see, in the most recent Electronic Rocketeer, how few out of the 8500+ members voted on this year's round of rule changes: 90. *sigh*

Meanwhile, I need to turn my attention to loading the car with gear for tomorrow's club launch that I will be running.
