Home made ignitors

I just picked up some Ni-chrome wire to make my own igniters, but I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I know I need to get some Magna lite but I don't know where to find it. So that's why I've come to the experts.
How do you make your own igniters and where can one get all the parts needed? Thanx.
