We are trying to find out as I just sent an email to corporate HQ asking them about it. One of my local stores dept. Mgr told me they were discontinuing rocketry products.

Nationwide, BUT many stores have not gotten the official word and stickers yet.

I hit two yesterday that luckily had the deal. Cleaned out the clearance motors, but left the kits and packs of 1/2A3-2T motors (I have hundreds of those).

Went to two at lunch today and they won't discount until they get the word/stickers sometime next week.

May go to one on the way home today....in a few minutes.

If you live in San Diego, California, and have been thinking about checking the La Mesa Hobby Lobby for any deals...

    You're too late. ;)

(Okay, there are still some 1/2A3-2T, B6-0, B6-2 & D12-0 motors left along with ARF kits and Launch Sets).

When I asked, they didnt know about discontinuing rockets, but they were all going to get "Yellow" tagged. Which means the prices are lower, but you can not use the coupon on them. ONe store was mostly yellow tags, and the other was all clearance tags.

I can attest that in North Florida that there was no clearance specials on Model Rockets.

Every year the 'story/rumor' goes around that Hobby Lobby is discontinuing rockets.

When I left my local HL this morning there were still plenty of A8-3/B6-4/C6-5/D12-3 motors on the pegs which were NOT on clearance.
Same with Baby Bertha, Nike-X, Citation Patriot, Generic E2X and other kits.

HL is just clearing 'old stock' to be replaced with new products.

    Standing in HL Right now.

    Orange tag = discontinued

Yellow tag = NOT DISCONTINUED, but the new lower price will not allow use of 40% off coupon. Yellow is in the 30% off range from MSRP.

New items will replace discontinued items.

Cleaned up today, saw the deals everyone’s been posting so I stocked way up on motors got s dozen packs of d12-0 booster motors for 2.99 a pack. Cleaned out there selection of Mini engines at 2.99 each. Picked up several kits for less than 5.00 to build with my son.. sad to see HL closing out there rocket selection but I’m not going to pass up a deal, might go back on the way home from work tomorrow and see if they still have that E launch pad with the 1/4 inch rod for 17.99 still

They are NOT closing out their rocket selection.

They have some items on closeout and only those are discontinued.

Other items are now set at the new discount price. That is an everyday price now. Precludes use of 40% off coupon.

New items will replace deleted items.

Maybe they will be exciting models?

After all, the E12 motors are not deleted, so there will be rockets for those motors.

    Glen, which is "your" store?

I made a loop of four of them in the south Sound area today. First one (nearest to me) had red clearance 75% off on items that had "D" on the hook tags. Picked up the last Alpha VI ($4), two packs of B6-0s, one pack of D12-0s for less than $3 each. Lots of others stuff with yellow tags including just about all the motors that weren't red-tagged. Among red tag stuff I left were ARF rockets and Flash launch sets. These latter were under $7. There was one Majestic left at that $12.47 price others have noted. I passed. I have one and I don't fly it much. The other PSIIs (Ascender, Star Orbiter) were gone. All 29mm motor tags were marked "D" and there was no stock. The hook for the Super Nova was also gone, which probably explains the booster motors being marked "D" (B6-0, C6-0). Other things marked "D" included Wizard, Alpha VI, Air Walker (they had three), Viking (single kits), Sonic igniters (but no stock).

Next store had no red clearance items but some stuff with yellow tags. Some motors yellow tagged, others not, including C6-0s which were "D" at the first store. Tried to use the 40% off coupon on those but as others have noted, could not. Still got some more motors at a reasonable discount. Yellow tags on some things (notably other launch sets) not so tagged in the first store.

Next store had nothing rocketry-related marked down at all! I used the 40% off coupon to pick up a pack of F15-6s.

Last one was like the second one - no red tags, lots of yellow tags, including basic B6-4s! So I restocked other motors I needed there. Had a discussion with a couple of other folks in the aisle and two store employees. The employees suggested that they were going to red-tag some stuff near the end of next week (so maybe I'll be making this loop again and doing some selective buying.

Stock levels were inversely proportional to the markdowns generally.

I'm going to be sad when all the 29mm Estes motors are gone (they are down to E16-6, F15-6 and F15-8 where stock exists now) since these are HAZMAT for shipping.

    Ah....

The four stores I visited to day were Federal Way, Tacoma, Lakewood and Puyallup in that order. That leaves Lynnwood and Issaquah that neither of us have been to yet, I guess..... :D

They did have clearance items at my Hobby Lobby. The small engines and kits are still left :) There's now a Majestic, another Star Orbitor, some D12 boosters and a couple of F engines in my closet.

Did alright. One local store had only some items discounted. The other store had everything at least 30% off. No F or E motors were there at all. (I bet i know who got them).
