I'm moving myself into the "maybe, kinda possibly, outside shot" category.

    I have two questions:

Where is the camping area relative to the flight line?

Can I bring a launch tower?

What the heck, bump me up from a 5% shot at going to 7%. I'm not an odds maker, but I play one on TV :).

CI(VII) the Airport runway runs N to S. The flight line is on the E side near the N end. Flyer/Spectator parking is to the immediate E of that and camping has traditionally has been both sides (N & S) of the parking area. Its all sandwiched in-between the runway and service road. A little more info than you asked for but it should help you visualize the layout.

If you plan on flying MD then I would plan on bringing a tower. If you need a tower for something else please contact the Club Prefect for any clarification/additional info.

I have signed up as LPR pad mgr.(They need more volunteers!) and 7 rockets L-MPR ready to fly! Including my Bomarc glider that may go up on an AT E12-3J this year.

Booked a room for Friday, camping Saturday. That went from a slim chance to confirmed attendance faster than I would have thought, but today's rained out launch really bummed me out. The boys and I will be leaving town straight from school on Friday.

Looking forward to meeting a new group of rocket folk.

Just planned my flights and ordered a few motors. Come on Bob, if you attend I don't have to navigate to your side of the airport to pick up my motors this week.

Going to try to get 5 HP in the air over the two days...we'll see.

Sometimes Lance &/or Bob from Kloudbusters comes down. It gives them a chance to fly instead of running an event. Any you coming down this year?
If you have flown with Kloudbusters there should be some familiar faces. This event draws flyers in from AR, KS, MO & TX. If I left anyone out, shout out where your from. And wherever your from, your not a stranger 'cause your "Rocket Folk"!

The field is only rated to M motors or less. There are some houses near the launch site that makes it impossible to fly N ' s or bigger.

    Chris,

Have you put the fuzzy dice in the Galactic Pimp Mobile (aka Fav'rit 2B) yet?

No, but note is the pic above it now has a pimptastic orange payload bay as opposed to te previous "subdued" metallic purple one (zippered on a fast main opening). If I could find nomex fuzzy dice Inwould totally use them as anti-zipper devices. You bringing the Scorch along?

Hmmm. I'll have to see what I can come up with. That thing is just begging for some bling.

Yep. Planning 2 flights for it, a J175 Moonburner shake down from the rebuild and a J300 Red for a little more oomph.

Like you, I'm planning 5 flights, but only on 4 birds. If things work out right, I'll get my first HP cluster flight in, and a mile+ flight.

At last count, Piedmont Area Rocketry Club will have at least 6 members there. The weather looks perfect. Temperature in the mid 80s with winds ~10mph. We're making final preparations for the flight of our 15' Solar Flare-Up on a M1939. Several members are planning to participate in the Minnie-Magg drag race. I'll have my Armageddon and several other new rockets along for the ride. Time permitting I'll get a few flights in. I plan to arrive late afternoon Friday around 5.

    See everyone there.

Marty if I get to "attempt" a group picture of the Minnie-Magg race with you in it. I'll take at least two so that you might get one good one. Or better yet just hand your camera/phone to someone else.

All you Texans have fun in Oklahoma and drive safely. And remember, all those Okies will be down in Dallas on October 9-10, screaming "Hook-em-horns" and getting drunk out of their minds!

Looking forward to meeting you. I won't get to Pawhuska until late tomorrow night, but I'll be at the field as early as possible Saturday.

Getting ready to start packing everything up, see you in about 24 hours. I am assuming that there are no ground fires allowed so I guess I will bring a small grill also. How is the fast food situation up there? Anything close by?

Food is only 5-10 min. away. Mc'ds, Sonic, Pizza, bbq, Subway, and a cafe inside the local grocery store serves a grat down home breakfast.

Wow, that looks like my back yard! We are used to trudging through plowed fields and uneven pastures. Getting excited about this launch...save me a spot, be there tomorrow.

The van is loaded. The boys and I will blow town at 3:05 tomorrow. Got a hotel about 30 min away, and plan to be on the field around 8 on Saturday.

And that field looks better than my yard.

For those that will be needing to re-stock your ice supply. There is a "Twice the ice" located in Pawhuska. It sure beats the price of the C-store bags. 20# bulk crushed(dump in ice chest) or 16# bagged-self served. The internet can find stuff, sometimes. It appears to be on the B-ville side of Pawhuska.

I just wanted to say this was an outstanding launch. The site is outstanding, and you couldn't have ordered any better weather than we had this weekend.

+1. Great time, glad we made the drive up. This launch was a great balance of big, not too big, kid friendly, high power friendly. Just great overall. Also, having to pause for the occasional crop duster to take off and land was both cool, and a bit surreal. I tried to talk Wesley into paying for dinner on the way home since he won so much loot on the closest to the buffalo contests, but he wouldn't go for it...something about buying more rockets wth that money (which I consider a valid reason, of course).

Good to get to put a face to a few TRF-ers too.

So, thanks again to all the organizers and volunteers.

This past weekend's weather was ideal, looking forward to more reports and pictures.

    Hmmm... rural airports...

While you kids were having tons of fun in Oklahoma, I was busy here in Grayson County overseeing construction of a new shop building. About an hour ago the brother of our contractor stopped by to pick up the building plans and a check for the grading work (see post number 200, DARS High Power Launch thread). As it turns out, he is a fireman with Denton and also serves as a volunteer for Van Alstyne. He informed me that the burn ban for Grayson County had been lifted last Thursday after I pointed out that I had a lot of brush and scrap wood I wanted to torch. I also understand that we have a small chance of rain next weekend so maybe Gunter will soon be a possible site in the near future. http://www.co.grayson.tx.us/default.aspx?name=oem.outdoor

Sounds like y'all had a great launch! Pictures please.....
