Hidden Figures movie

I had a question about this new film Hidden Figures. It says it is based on a true story, but is that true? (I know hollywood makes up lots of stuff). In all the years I have seen movies about actual events and all the documentaries about space exploration none of them were remotely like this one. I would like to believe the events in this movie did happen. Unlike now days when there are tons of woman involved in the space program but in the early days of the space program was this true?

I cant help but think that those women would have been recognized a lot sooner had they been white. Kinda of a shame it took so long.

Your right i think. regardless of skin color i am surprised any women were apart of nasa in those days.
