Helicopter Recovery?

Hi all-

Does anyone have a good resource for heli- rocovery rocket plans? I've been bitten by the bug!

I've got the Apogee Heli-roc and the Estes Skywinder. In the small amount of research I've done, I see most models have the blades on the outside, but in this month's Sport Rocketry, there was a reference to FAI models with the blades on the inside. Any references for these too?

Now, if you say the Rotaroc looks like the Apogee Heli-roc, well, it is the other way around. I designed the Rotaroc in summer 1975, but Tim does acknowledge the Heli-roc is based on it.

Some of the photos include Rose-A-Rocs, which Jim Flis sells as kits. They look very skinny when folded for boost, and most of them have highly swept-back fins.

not a great performer, but its a simple rocket and works really well.

get a Fliskit Rose-A-Roc wonderful kit, I learned a lot from it, and it wouldn't be hard to tweak a second one to an internal blade design.

All of Georges references are top notch!
I have to say HD has alway been for me the most fun (If any competition event can be called fun, they are all a lot of hard work) but of them all HD's have alway be the most rewarding is maybe a better term event outside the craftsmanship events like Scale and PMC. Motor level 1/8A-D are all a blast!
I even did a Clusted D or F powered 60" rotor demo model that was a hoot!
All so far have been external rotor type. Here's a page of various size, powere HD models that should spark your interest, and the NAR contest pack from narts has lots of plans to start from as well. Give a few of them a try there are really a fun diversion of all the 3F&NC models
