IMG_0257.jpegI just unearthed 2 of my seasonal rockets that I was going to launch last year, but my club launch got delayed to November. So I the left is The Frankenrocket, and to the right is Matt The Skeleton. I did some simulations and some math and they should fly kind of straight on D12-3s. Either way, I believe these should fall under this category.

Simulations and math rule. If the computer says it's safe, that's good for me. But that skeleton might just be a bit of an RSO frightening machine. Does the head blow off or rear eject for recovery?

Due to a lack of skills I rely on mindsim, which can be a challenge when it comes to pad assignments.

Rocket thrust will do funny things to skeletal appendages not locked in. How would I know such things? By flying cool skeleton oddrocs!

Flying skeltons rock! Heavenly Rider was always a crowd favorite. Good times! Good luck!

NICE!!! The skeleton is just going to fall to the ground, so I don’t know how intact it would be, it is (give or take) around the same weight of an Estes 1:100 Saturn v Skylab, so it shouldn’t go that high. But I’m still gonna launch it away from the people. Either way I’ll show launch pictures.

I sense a great deal of the "Dark Arts" flowing through that Skeleton rocket. A D12 3 will just blow it up in the air or on the ground. Be sure no rocket Jedi are around, just Sith.

A few suggestions as we watch your career with much interest.

Lock the skull stiff. Fill it with nose weight to bring CP at least up to mid sternum. Tape all joints. Make sure your motor is powerful enough to safely lift weight and drag. Maybe need a bigger motor???

Wire arms to side.

Lock and Splay legs out. Are they stabilizing fins? Avoid THE BURN!

Trigger Warning: The following suggestion, although technically illegal, will enhance chances of flight success and thus safety. Use a D12 0 with epoxy(preferred) or solid wadding-taped plug. No ejection charge needed for tumble recovery.

Flying with a recovery system would be much cooler and even more dark side. Say a D12 0 with a pinch of black powder on top, ducted to a parachute pack on skeleton's back. Such high drag eliminates need for delay since it will not coast. Again, not for those who trigger at rules non compliance. Consider rear eject for next version...VERY DARK SIDE!

Undead Pist Warrior soaks the tractor motor thrust, just to get his petrified brains blown out.

Rocket thrust and flame does horrible things to a human spine! Straighten, tape over to hide burn, fly dem bones again!

Will do on Matt The Skeleton version 2. I will use an E12-6 I have. I’ve got glued the joints, and the skull is one piece. Let’s hope my friends on the other side will make this rocket work. (Dr. Facillier, princes and the frog reference)

An E12 6 to probably too long of a delay on a heavy and draggy oddroc. I have found in many cases a red lable, booster, zero delay is best. E12 0! My first flight of the Whooshing Crane was on 3xE12 4. Way too long of a delay and this happened in front of the Jedi Masters...not good for this Padawan learner.

Put in 3xE12 0 with a pinch of BP on top and perfect flights! Sooo happy was this learner.

But then the dreaded E12 CATOS hit and I felt a great disturbance in the air.

No Jedi Academy, welcome to The School of Hard Knocks.

I love oddrocs. I have a flying pumpkin I fly at Octoberfest. The first time I flew it the LCO said, It20221109_154755[1297].jpg20230412_234359[2232].jpg20230417_192100[2250].jpg20230507_181745[2379].jpg20240926_040013[5730].jpg20221212_191837[1655].jpg stayed together. I've flown it for several years now. The turkey comment got me thinking. I have a flying chicken. That should work for November and a flying Christmas tree for December. I know the tree is bent. I straighten it before I fly it.This year I'm going to take a shot at flying a small regular tree that's 3' tall.

Is that a plunger at the top of the pumpkin one?!

Looking just at the picture I thought the frankenrocket was some form of jet pack to strap to the skeleton!
Be careful packing your intestinal recovery system wouldn't want it to get twisted and have a hernia recovery!

Love Halloween rockets!

Skeleton rockets do fly!

When anyone gets near him he laughs and the eyes flash. Annoys the Goblin out of everyone! 😂
(The arms and legs are all fixed with epoxy.)

Ghosts fly too!

Not to mention everybody's favorite - Candy corn!! This is actually the most controversial rocket we have. Some people like the corn, and some people hate the corn!
(We usually fly it with candy corn in the nose cone payload bay.)

I put this one together in 2019 for Halloween. That's a cardboard coffin from the Dollar Tree store.

With a Estes A10-3t it probably got 225 feet. The good news, it is very stable! I still get a little nervous when launching an odd-ball the first time. It's best to test something like this before taking it to a club launch.
