because you seek to to be a mean person, and be berate others for whatever reason, you fail....

Because you can earn a paycheck does not mean you know what your doing, or that what you do actually know, that your any good at it. This may not even be you... but that's why professional liability insurance exists.

This is just cover to show that you have excuse for your hateful comments? Is this supposed to prove something?

The real answer is.... Semi-automatic guns CAN and DO slam fire, in-fact the last assault training I did we covered it extensively along with other things like squibs and other safety factors that need to be "not overlooked" as an operator.

Additionally, I would like to advise the professional gunsmith to get an education of 6 years, so you can understand English vernacular to the point that... a commonly overlooked problem, is not misconstrued as... a common problem as you have done.

My statement was made out of people who own and shoot guns, and may allow others to do so with a weapon that is unfamiliar. IE. a child with an AR-15... (they slam-fire.... BTW) they load up the magazine, and hand it over... never thinking an bent firing pin may malfunction causing a full auto unload of the magazine, and the death and injury resulting from it. Because of holly-er-than-thou people like you , who don't consider that it CAN HAPPEN, on even a rare case. So, it is commonly not considered and overlooked...

You are the victim of mis-information, Clay.

If you will recall, there was a time not so long ago, that the ATFE would have had people believe that a person of destructive mentality would be capable of downing an airliner at cruise altitude with a model rocket.

AR's DON'T slam fire. An SKS can, IF you don't clean it. And much more common than slam-fires, are doubles. Those are the fault of the shooter, not the weapon.

Please don't buy into the anti's campaign of mis-information. The only people that helps are those deliberately spreading said mis-information.

WHAT?! A Rocket & Gun thread with no Eye Candy?!

Some of my favorites:

I picked this up from the CMP (South Store) this past Good Friday: 1942 Winchester (WRA) M1 Garand in 30-06. This rifle has the original WWII barrell in great shooting shape...

How about a 1943 PU sniper rifle from the Tula factory in 7.62X54R... The biggest taboo here is I dared restore the rifle back to some kind of simulated glory without adding back that nasty red shellac finnish...

My interest lies with bolt action mostly, so I also put together something a little more modern; a Remington M700 Tactical Cerakote in .223...

I reload for all of my rifles.

I have done little to no rocketry in years... the interest lies dormant, but it is still there. While working on contract with Moon Express, my interest peeked enough to start designing some hybrid motors. Here is the 3500cc design:

3500ccMOCK-UP_zpsdad4b2f8.jpg

and the 4630cc design:

The design work has progressed a bit further since these jpg's were generated, and are still a nice work in progress.

As for the similarity between rockets and guns... my wife also noted that my hobbies tend to have that BATFE demon association. To me, the skill set for either hobby stimulates my most creative thoughts... amazing how smoke, flame and Boom! can do that...

Sweet M700 you've got there, Dragon. How's she shoot?

I had to re-work the daylights out of my M700. Trued the action, worked the trigger, and had the barrel and action fully bedded. Now she shoots great. Sub-1/2 MOA. Now all I need is a tag for a wapiti... 8^)

Yes, I would truly love to see a thread or area where firearm enthusiasts could discuss our shared passion. A while back I posted something about a new firearm I had purchased for concealed carry, just wanting to share my joy with my friends. Well, to my great sadness, the thread was bashed by the Skillet of Harsh Discipline, and for good reasons, it had dissolved into a political/emotional debate. Even after my heartfelt request to stay on topic and remain civil.

That being said, I would like to see a firearm enthusiast thread for firearm enthusiasts to discuss our other toys, not for political grandstanding, emotional pleas nor personal attacks on or by either side . If you don't like the subject, don't read the thread. There was mention that this kind of conversation should be on a gun forum not a rocket forum. In reply I give you the the heading for the Watering Hole:
Forum: The Watering Hole
An area where general discussions can take place, that don't necessarily fit well into other categories. This can relate to rocketry, general chat, or any other topic not prohibited by TRF rules and guidelines.

To me this would allow for firearm discussions as long as they don't turn into political debates or tirades by ANY poster. Maybe the posters could work with the Mods to steer the thread away from any potential problems BEFORE it spirals out of control and it is locked.

A subforum does not make sense to me, but I see nothing in terms of the forum rules that would prevent a non-political gun-related thread. Just be aware of the practical problems with threads on topics that people do have political beliefs about. I started a thread related to climate change some time back and explicitly stated in the first post that the thread was not to be about politics or public policy issues --- it was only about science. It was very difficult to keep the thread from derailing into policy and politics. That's just the practical truth. Threads like that take a lot of babysitting. And if you personally have your own political views related to firearm policy, you'll find it hard not to respond, even if you are the one setting the No Politics rule.

At 11 yrs old...
First gun fired was in the Boy Scouts. Target shooting w/ a .22
First trap shooting was in the Boy Scouts, using .22 bird shot.
First bow and arrow was in the Boy Scouts.
And first rocket launched, you guessed it, the Boy Scouts.

The rest is history. Blame the Boy Scouts

Thanks, I really like the rifle myself. Short of the 22lr, this will be the smallest rifle caliber I have shot. The rifle has sat in my safe for a couple months... work and car repair has consumed much of my weekend playtime. The plan is to shoot the rifle tomorrow so I can finally get the barrel broke in and the scope sighted in as well.

Beautiful rifle.....

Thanks, I really love the old WWII rifles... I wish I could own an example from most all makers. I owned an old Mauser years ago, but knew right away, that the rifle was haunted; either by the owner, or the souls that the rifle took during the war. It was sold not long after.

How can you possibly compare the actions of a young person with the courage and independent spirit to sail around the world with teaching a child to handle a device whose ONLY purpose is to kill?? Baffling.

On a more general note, am I the only one to be alarmed that people who lack the intelligence to make a coherent argument are allowed to own / build / sell firearms?!!

The U.S. Government was'nt very alarmed. Infact, they usually made me carry and use a pretty large Gun.
And you're right about one thing. They are good for Killin'.
Have a nice Day.

Went to a local gun show today and picked up a stripped lower receiver for 79.00 out the door. I'm going to build it around the 300 Blackout round. Anyone here have any Experience with that round here.

LOL...

And a lot of People used to shoot Rockets at me, so I think I have a pretty good standing in this Thread.
I know a lot about "Guns And Rockets", and it is likely something you don't want to know.

Some Weapons are pretty large, and do require Responsible Handling.
It's not Rocket Science.

I don't think we need a gun sub-forum; just like we don't need a cat sub-forum, or a model train sub-forum, or a Ford Pinto sub-forum, or a insert your interest here sub-forum.

But we like cats trains cars hot women and guns dental floss and rockets with Elmer's glue and rattle can paints.

Big guys always get stuck humping the squad weapons.

Mine was an M60.

I got to tell ya, guys, I'd rather be behind a gun like that than a M16...just sayin'...

Hay Top I used to shoot big bore also and the TOW missile.

Thanks! That is my first look inside of the breech of a recoilless rifle.
Time for Gun Porn, not as cool as the Garand or the FN MAG but I'm proud of them.

This is what I keep for household defense. Need to get my wife to the range for familiarization.

Springfield XD-S in .45 acp (top) is my everyday carry.
Walther P22 .22 LR (bottom).

The fact that they are almost the same size is amazing.
