Unfortunately the J520 has been relegated to the seasonal production list. I would have thought that a no-Haz J from Aerotech would have been a perennial best-seller, but evidently not.
The problem with the J520W reload, is that it requires the 1080 case rather than the more common 720 case. Because it uses the longer case the reloads cost as much as the higher impulse J reloads for 1080 case.

Since you won't be launching at this November launch make sure to check out Black Friday sales. I try to stock up a bit with the great deals.

That was the case/motor 'everyone' had for the next step above the 29/40-120. I've loaned mine out many times over 2 decades*, and still will if the need arises.

But you would need to get "The Complete Motor". As your closures from the Hobby Line do not fit the HPR motor line.

The RMS H165R is the lowest NS , at 161ns it is really just a full G motor.
The H128W is 178ns

The DMS H135W is a little more NS then H128 Reload at 229ns.

Which one to use? It depends on if you want a Red Laser Beam under the Rocket in your L1 Liftoff Photo, or a Cloud of Smoke.

*Well way back in the day in a field far away, before the 29mm HPR reloads; we had Aerotech Single use H70s for Tripoli 'Confirmation' flights. One H motor and done. There were no levels at the time.

To get an Idea of inflation, the 29mm H70 single use was $16.95 list price, and less at discounts.

Dean from Rockets R&D signed my TRA confirmation card in 1989 at Danville Dare II. Here is that motor next to a brand new 29/180 motor case. I've lost my original. I do have my original 'well used' 38/240 Industrial Solid Propellent [ISP] motor serial number #125 still with the box set they came in at the time. Got it from Gary at a Danville Dare when they came out

Thanks for letting me re-live my first L1 flight this morning. When Levels came out I had to get my L1 again, as 'Confirmations' were then a thing of the past.

Edit: Both my 1989 'Confirmation' and later NAR L1 was on an NCR original non-Estes Big Brute. It suffered a Road Flare type CATO about 15 years ago.

I have never seen a blue forward closure before!

)
I have never seen a blue forward closure before!

They were made and sold by Ron Shultz , the original LOC owner from Medina Ohio. Same with the blue aft closure. He also sold Black plain casings

I also have a blue 'Jerry' forward closure that holds his style of delays he used to provide with US Rockets [USR] Motors.

I think I was at that NSL also. It was a very nice field, but it has the largest mesquite thorns that I have ever seen. Take that in account when selecting your shoes that you wear!
I have never seen a mesquite thorn. Do you guys have locust trees out there too?

Just click on all the vendors in the ad space above and sign up for their newsletters. There's also a thread that will pop up here announcing the black friday sales.

Still cheaper for someone without an on-field vendor needing a motor shipped, but it does require the larger, more expensive case as you say.

Watch the Deals Forum and the Sponsor Market. When sales start being announced, I'll start a thread in the Deals Forum for this year's holiday season deals if someone else hasn't already.

Edit: here's last year's thread to give you some idea of the sales we typically see. (Note especially that sweet sale by Composite Warehouse.)
Used to hunt in mesquite scrub. Had to be careful. Those suckers will go straight through a boot sole.

The Black Friday sales on motors are kind of double edged sword. The prices are great but it forces you to make a larger purchase once a year. It then takes the manufactures many months to fill those orders, resulting in a cyclical pattern of product availability that is harder on the manufactures to fill.

Yes, mesquite will go through sneakers like a needle through a balloon.....I've had them in boots where it literally took pliers to get it out....rsbhunter

Loki’s are nice but man did he stiff all his vendors and kick them to the curb

My understanding from our local Vendor, is that they are not allowed to sell them mail order competing with the manufacture.

Limited to the in person sales, like on the flying field or at meetings etc..

I picked an H Cocktail up this late summer, when the batch was done and they were available. Hope to fly it in late spring next year. I still have a few J528 Loki motors , so didn't need another J that will need a larger field.
LOKI Coctails are awesome for night launches! Everything lights up purple in the vicinity....

Wonderful Memories. This is what our hobbies are about. Thanks for sharing Art.

@Art Upton --

There must be exceptions to that rule ?

OneBadHawk.com > Loki Reloads > 38-480 Reloads and OneBadHawk.com > Loki Reloads > 38-740 Reloads

Or did I miss something on the site ?

Thanks !

-- kjh

p.s. note the juicy green text: "This load ships No Haz Mat." on most of the 38-480 and 38-740 reloads :)

OneBadHawk must be the only vendor he has left. Flightsketch and CSRocketry were both removed from his vendor list. I have an I405 still in my box but I got rid of all my hardware when Chris was removed as a vendor since he’s my local vendor.

Loki is not a big enough manufacturer to risk alienating customers
