I noticed something weird a few days ago.
I posted the word f-l-a-k-e (without the dashes) in a couple of threads and it posted as "fine".
Deleted the sentences in the threads and re-worded them.
Spell checker is off, so don't know why it would be changing my word.
Examples: Metal f-l-a-k-e silver became metal fine silver.
F-l-a-k-e the meat off became fine the meat off.
(Using dashes here otherwise it would change the word in this post as well).
Anybody know what's going on?

Metal flake. Corn flake. Paint flake. Rocket flake. Don’t flake out.

Flake being flakey seems to be a systemic thing. Everything fl@key seems to end up fine...

Flake news, you’re seeing things........

Edit: wow, it also changed the capital F to lowercase.

I think someone was using the Fl@k3 word repeatedly as as attack on individuals and some algorithm was written to edit as soon as the f-word was posted.

Ah. Not a big deal, I was just tripping at the weirdness of it.
Thanks for the explanation.

Noooooo, don't explain it! It's more fun contemplating the significance of a strange, perhaps cosmic, forum disturbance.

A snow crystal is like a virus. Cold, unforgiving, ordered, puny, and out of nowhere, they’ll knock out your power source.

Using @dvdsnyd preview method:

Curious how the algorithm reacts to hyphens and extra characters. I thought maybe the whole snowflake insult would have been the reason to block it. Apparently not.

Ah, now the light comes on. And I’ve lost all interest...thought maybe we had some kind of anomaly in the software, maybe a precursor of the Singularity or somebody trying to send a secret message...but just more internet hooey...oh well.

flakey and flake were in the censor to be replace by fine. That happened back when people were calling each other flakes, etc. Since it's apparently not been done for some time, I deleted them from the censor until needed again.

Not Johnny Storm. In the premiere episode of WKRP in Cincinnati, a new program director at the radio station changes the format from a boring adult not-so-contemporary playlist to rock. A DJ, Johnny Fever, who'd been fired from a previous job for saying "booger" on the air, felt so free and liberated that he picked up the studio mic and yelled "Boogeeeer!" for no reason apparent to the listening audience.

And how he changed the record currently playing, when the switch-over was announced...

The record came off the turn-table in 2or 3 pieces!
