I've been working on my Deuce's Wild! over the past weekend. It's been a very fun build. The quality is great, and everything fits perfectly. I'm planning to use this as a test vehicle to compare my app results with Altimeter Two readings. I'm going to cut the end down to make a small payload section.

I've actually used all my yellow Estes helper tools on this project. This includes the old yellow alignment guide, body tube marking guides, ultimate tube marking guide, and the new body tube cut-off guides. So far I've used the cut off guides for marking, but I'll use them for cutting the payload section off.

Here are some pics of what I've done so far.

I should have everything finished soon. I've working on it piecemeal between updates to my app, and other things going on.

I still want to build a relay launcher for more reliable clustering.

I think that the deuces wild was my favorite build from last year. it flew nicely as well!

I don't think that you need a relay for lighting 2 Estes BP motors - I had no issues with the std 12v club launcher as well as my Estes yellow one (which I think is 6).

Look forward to the painted bird!

COOL!
What colors is going to be?

Not sure yet. I'm going to dig around in the garage and see what I have on hand. Maybe a basic white and black would look good. I should probably check the Deuce gallery for some inspiration. :)

Yep, I agree about the launcher. My go box should work.. The relay's been on my mind a lot lately because of my 4 motor cluster micro Nike Hercules. Three failed flights so far. Once I get it built I'll probably use it for everything.

Just go with the Quest Q2-G2 igniters and you won't have any cluster ignition issues, though I was 100% with my relay box and Estes igniters, too. The Q's are just easier.

You'll find plenty of inspiration there.
I really like the way Rokitflite did his Egyptian theme DW.
You say "Basic" white and black ,well, sometimes less is more.
I say go for it!

I have a Go Box. I havent had any issues with clusters. I do use Q2s.

I scratched built one last year,BTH70 tube, flys D and E blackpowder.A very stable rocket. One of my favorite rockets.

Over the weekend between watching the Masters play Golf and reading the Rocket masters here on TRF I have found inspiration to get my first Deuce built.

Peter, your build has helped me very much! Thank YOU!

I am thinking Pink & Black.....

wow - that looks like some hairy old cutting and sanding to get those shapes right.

Cool! I ended up going with the traditional scheme, but using gray and orange. Almost done. I'll post some pics soon. Pink and black sounds wicked.

Looks great Peter. I have been wanting to build one of these for a while, now I just may not be able to hold off for too much longer. Post some launch pics!

Gray and Orange ...get them pictures up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds COOL!

I'll be a monkey's uncle, that's what that notch is for! I should have saved the documentation I got with my alignment guide, may know how to use it more!

You'll love this rocket. Flies great as long as both motors light!

I don't have the painted pics yet, but here's what I've got so far.

I deviated a little to add a payload bay...

Trying out the new Estes tube cutters

The rocket retains the same length. I just cut the tube and added a coupler.

Here's where I really messed up. I got careless and in a hurry installing the baffle. It got stuck and I tore it up trying to get it back out. I should have sanded it down some before trying to install.

I used a piece of BT-60 coupler to push it in enough to make room for the payload bay shoulder. I epoxied in the bottom part of the baffle. I guess now it's just a "haffle".

Starting to apply primer here.
