Hey Man...

Got out this morning for the first flights of my first Fliskit... "Long Overdue". I've put a lot of time into the build and was waiting for a nice clear (low risk) day. By the time I got to the Vassar College field the winds had become gusty so I tested using a B64 equipped Chrome Dome. Okay about 300 ft. from pad. Plenty clear of the woods. Loaded the Long Overdue with an A83, checked the airspace, said a little blessing and hit the button. I can't believe how straight this thing flies. Seemed to cut right through the wind with no sign of cocking. Not a trace of spin. Emitted a strange "thwop thwop thwop" sound at apogee (appx 300ft?) right before ejection. Decscended at a nice safe pace on the 12" chute. I really appreciate the long shock cord. Landed safely about 50 ft. from pad though recovery wadding had not been expelled. Did it all over again. Second flight also perfect without strange sound and this time the wadding was ejected. Will go with higher power on the next calm day. Though the flights were low altitude they were very satisfying. Great Rocket. An eye and air pleaser. Thanks Jim! I've logged the first "Long Overdue" flights in EMRR!

Nice job keeping the rocket out of the woods! Sounds like you had fun first-flying your Long Overdue.

Yea, that was my first thought "onset of critical mass"... :D

Great shots by the way! I am thrilled that you are enjoying your Long OverDue. Folks screamed at me to get this out after finding out about the "OverDue" kit and it's nice to see it become so popular.

It is a great flyier and I love getting mine in the air :)

Thanks for lookin.
It is really a nice kit and outstanding flyer. My favorite challenge and learning experience from it was cutting the tube fins and the templates made that pretty easy. I was a little nervous about the fin spacing (which is actually fine) but she really flew straight and smooth. Woods resistant in the right conditions. Next fliskits I'm considering are the Corona (I'm a sucker for tube fins and that offers yet another variation) and/or the Triskelion. Thanks for the comps on the photos which are actually video frames from a 2 second liftoff video available at:https://www.planetandy.com/palo.html
Jim, feel free to use any flisimages that I post.

Anyone got a RockSim file for this one yet? I have the kit and could create one for theis design if someone wants it.

Bruce,

that would be great. Actually, I am hoping to obtain RockSim files of all of our kits and post them with the kit descriptions at some point.

Thats a cool lookin bird. I was thinking about getting one earlier. How was it lining up and cutting those tube fins? Does it have wrap templates like the Acme Spitfire?

BTW-A great idea, using the Chrome Dome for the guinee pig flight. I wish I would have thought of that before several tragic flights I've had.

The tube fins look daunting to cut but the wrap templates provided really make it easy. Suffice to say you want a sharp knife. Painting the parts before assembly as I recall JF suggests in the instructions is helpful also. lining em up was no problem either A real rewarding build. Gotta give Jim the credit for such cool lookin designs.

Well, thank you

It is quite comforting to know that I've ventured into this business and the feedback that I get tells me that I am providing exciting, innovative and fun designs :)

Attached is a RockSim Version 7 File for the FlisKits "Long Over Due" kit. I had to use some new unproven techniques to simulate the angle cut nested tube fins. Anyone have any altimeter data or other tracking measurements to confirm the simulation?

If some one posts or sends me the fin measurements for the Triskelion, I will make a simulation file for it as well.
