Fiberglass Lamination

Hi -

For various reasons that are unimportant, I am interested in laminating a LOC body tube ( 3" dia) with fiberglass. The tube is kraft paper that is then covered with a white paper covering. The question is - remove the white paper before laminating or not. If I peel that off, the tube feels sort of waxy, and then it seems as though I need to remove one of the keaft paper layers to get to a nice non-greasy surface for laminating.

Opinions?

Yes, remove (peel) the white glassine layer. You'll get better resin absorption.

Tony I'd recommend posting your video on glassing a phenolic tube. That should help him out.

I just glassed my first tubes this fall. I basically followed Tony's method. It will take a while to get good at it, but it's not too bad. Here's a couple other threads that describe the process that I went through.
