Just curious out of the motors you've actually flown what are your favorite for each class..? ie.. A, B, C, etc...

Mine would go like this ...

A8-3

B6-4

C6-5

D12-5

E9-4 (great in my big daddy)

F21 (mainly due to the versatility fitting into 24mm or 29 with adapter) basically a versatile F20

G64 all around kick butt motor for G flights good flame and smoke

H128 close on this one with the H165 redline but i like the big flames and extra smoke just a little bit more.

I211 a great big flame and smoke motor

J350 another big flame and smoke motor

What say the rest of you ?:)

B6-4
C6-5 (my all-time fav)
D12-0 (yeah, dis one rocks )
G40 W

Now of engines I've not fired, but seen in person or vids of, hands down the M, N, O, and P.

Wedge Oldham's Nike- Hercules slays me, and the full N to M Terrier-Sandhawk makes do the TRF dance..*trf dance - wheww-hoo*

The recent S engine vid knocked me into next week.

Someday my friends, I'll be certified level 3 (got to get 1 & 2 first ), then everyone in the midwest better watch out..8)

B4-4 (I like the longer burn than B6)
C6-5 (best all around choice for LPR)
D12-3/5
E9-6
F20W (don't fly much 24mm stuff so this is a great small 29mm'er)
EM G35 (3 words: four second burn :D )
Pro38 H153
Pro38 I205
Pro38 I285
I435T (OMG LOUD!)

Sticking just to motors I've flown:

A10-0 - food for my MIRV gryphon
B6-0 - good for staged flights on a small field, especially my MIRV Triune
C6-5 - very versatile motor
D12 - another good workhorse
E30 - rocks in the Estes Phoenix
F39 - more Phoenix fodder (close call between this and the F12)
G104 - flown _lots_ of these (kinda split here, flew a G125 once, and it was awesome)
H238 - bang, it's gone
I300 - ditto
J415 - only flown one, but it got me my personal altitude record

I was browsing Thrustcurve and found it strange that some Estes A motors have more burn time than some H motors.

I guess you always want what you cannot have!!!....C5-3...C5-3...C5-3....C5-3!!!! If there was only ONE motor I could have in existence, THIS would be it!! I just have only a few left....I am afraid to look....out of a WHOLE BOX that I last bought! Save them for certain overweight rockets....new Estes CLUSTER BOMB, new METEOR MASHER, excellent in OOP Estes SIDEWINDER (realistic slow liftoff then fins take over GUIDANCE and "homes in" on target with nice LONG burn to boot). WHY did Estes ever discontinue them??? Anybody know where I can get more?? Another WHOLE BOX??? Don't want the AUCTION route! I like the LONG BURN E's and the AEROTECH stealth E30's too!

I should have added the B14 to the list, but it is gone and probably will never come back :(

Everyone has the same favorite A-G, so I'll start with H I guess...

H148R
I435T
J415W (if that doesn't count because of it's two extra newton-seconds making it a K, then I'll go with J800T)
K250W (I know where you're coming from Rocketjunkie ;))
L850S
M2400B
N4000B (well, I at least handled six of em and installed head end igniters in them!)
P8000 GREEN (Frank's motor for the Green Goblin last year at BALLS... WOW that was cool... yeah I didn't fly it but it should still count for SOMETHING :))

Never really thought about favorite motors in general, just favorite motors for particular rockets. Now that I think about it, I suppose mine would go as follows:

A10
B6
C6
D12
E15 (hope AeroTech keeps making them)
F50 (good fast boost)
G75 (cool black smoke)
H220 (loud and fast boost, and you can actually see the blue flame)

Stymye...
I have a few of the G33's. Long burn blackjacks are always a thrill. I figure it'll be a good one for the AGM-12C Bullpup, when finished.

A8-3 (easy to get at wallyworld)
B4-4 (Think A8-3 on steroids)
C6-5 (can fly almost any smallish bird)
D12-6 (Big Daddy Lifter)
E9-X (Viper cluster fuel)
F50-6 (My first ever MPR/APCP - Blows an Initiator right up there)
G80-10 (Most of my MPR birds feed on this
H50-10 (L1 cert and will lift most all of my PML kits)
I69 - One mean SU

Have not gone any futher.

Next stop will be a J330

A8-3 (I get them in Blast Off Packs...I probably have 30 or so by now...)
B6-4 (Again, blast off packs)
C6-5 (Blast off packs....)
D9W (Cool motor)
E6 (GREAT Monocopter motor!)
F101T (Machbusters)
G64W (Cool motor, used to only be $6 at Hobbylinc...those were the days...)
H210R (Sweet motor for 4" birds like my Phantom 4000)
I357 (Pure coolness factor, controlled explosion!)
J415W or J570W (Two amazing motors that have some serious kick)
K240 RATT (The scream is incredible!!!)

As time goes on I will be flying more big stuff, so I can compare better. I have a K695R and K1275R to fly, so I think that the K240 will have some competition;)

I'd also like to try some long burn AT stuff in 54mm, another thing on my wish list...

P8000 ..um, does anyone know of any video available of this beasty in action ?

*got the shakes just thinking bout it* 8)

Is this Frank Kosdon that your referring to ?, I ask because I always admired his mega engine designs. Back when HP Rocketry was still worth reading, I loved the one about Full Metal Jacket (?), and forcing the entire line of spectators to move back.

I flew them in 1990 and only have some old video. Moon burners, 110 mm diameter with a 14 second burn. Beautiful motors, wish I had more (except the cost).

B6/C6, best general purpose motor size

B14 (OH! if ye only knew :D )

C11, great 24mm alternative for small fields!

the old E15-2, great for styrofoam rockets

Jeff Taylor of Loki Research has some great photos on his website, starting with http://www.lokiresearch.com/BALLS 2003/fv16.htm and going to its sad demise at http://www.lokiresearch.com/BALLS 2003/fv21.htm. The liftoff photo is at http://www.lokiresearch.com/BALLS 2003/fv19.htm, but it doesn't capture the intensity of the green in the flame. It was brighter than Green Gorilla, and... oh yeah, it was a P motor :D BTW, that's me on the range in http://www.lokiresearch.com/BALLS 2003/fv18.htm that picture. I was one of the closest ones to the rocket when they hit the button... what an experience!

Yeah, that was a Frank Kosdon motor. Frank is getting pretty good at the colors Orange and Green. Who knows where it'll go from here...

Didn't he say to only include motors you have flown ? Still a funny (albeit, necro'd) thread...

A10-3T

B6

C11

D12

AT E20 (haven't flown the CTI E75 but it sounds great)

CTI F120 and F70

CTI G126WT and G125RL

CTI H399WT, H160CL and H255BS (H399 is a great teleporter)

CTI I540WT, I303BS, and I236BS

If I include motors not flown, but that I've seen, the K740, K2045, L3150, and L1395 are all very impressive.
