Who is everyone's favorite music artist/ band?? My favorite groups are Heart,Eric Clapton and WILLIAM HUNG (just kidding)

ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Pink Floyd come to mind.

Jimmy Buffet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Willy Nelson...

ack, can't pick just one.

Yes, Clapton too!

Jethro Tull
Yes
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Grateful Dead

Chili Peppers and Coldplay (Brit band so don't know if you guys know them)

I really have started to like the British/English band "The Killers." They have this sound that I absolutely love!

I also like most all alternative rock bands, and some classic rock also.

Rock:
Blue Oyster Cult

Vangelis
Mannheim Steamroller (they're CLASSICAL, not NEW AGE da**it)
Quercus Circus

Native American:
Bill Miller (the Bob Dylan of Turtle Island)
Robbie Robertson
Robert Mirabal
Walela (Rita Coolidge and sisters)
Redbone

Oh, and Jimi Hendrix (surprise!)

Honorable Mentions:
"no kill i", my older son's heavy metal band (extra points if you know the reference)
Uncle Stumpy's Porn Funk Band, yes they really played that stuff, my younger son played trombone.

Credence (CCR)
Beatles

Jefferson Airplane

Yea, and I still like Simon & Garfunkle!

I'm a huge fan of anything except really dark grunge-metal. I've only heard one or two bands/artists I didn't like. Some of them get old pretty fast (most pop and alt rock fall into this category for me), but nevertheless have their own unique harmonic sound to add to the mix.

Yes, this includes techno. :p Sasha and Digweed are excellent DJs!

Probably the same group they did Politik and Clocks (although I'm not a big fan of either of them, except the last half of Politik)

I like just about anything

for metal, Nevermore,Iced Earth, anything with hard Guitars except when the singer barks at me ! (i hate that type of "singing")

for rock, Dream Theater,Hendrix,Beatles,Kiss, (old) Aerosmith
Sex pistols,BOC,old Sabbath ,Thin lizzy,Skynyrd,Van Halen(with Dave) Pat Travers,Doors,

for country,I preferr the bluegrass stuff like Alison Krauss and Ricky Scaggs,Nickle creek

and any of the other non disco 70's stuff ,three dog night, grass roots,
the association,t-rex,Isley Bros.Sweet

I even have a (gulp) carpenters cd,because I think she had one of the best ever voices.

Hendrix and Beatles top the list

I personally like some oldies 50's and 60's stuff. I also like some 80's and most 90's and some of todays stuff.

A friend of mine also got me hooked on Weird Al Yankovic. He really cracks me up.:D

I LOVE WIERD AL!!! He is hilarious, specially because he makes parodies of songs that I no, old or new.

The best band *ever* is Pink Floyd. Hand down. Period.

For blues music, consider the genius of Howlin' Wolf.

For "pop" music - Peter Gabriel is quite the artist.

For Rock 'n Roll, you gotta love the ' Stones. It's Only Rock 'n roll is a superb album.

But no one - and I mean - *no one* comes close to the depth and perfection of Pink Floyd.

The eclectics will pledge allegiance to the Dead and Phish.... groundbreaking in their own right and a good listen (depending on the intake of THC and LSD.)

But

Wish You Were Here is one of the best albums of all time. The only argument that I could make for one better is Dark Side of the Moon.

For pure "pop it in the CD player and jam" tunes -

you gotta *love* The Travelling Wilburys.

Genius.

Pure.

Genius.

In his own category, Jimmy Buffett is the top (I'm borderline obsessed).

Rock:
Tenacious D, Van Halen, Lynyrd Synyrd, Led, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn to name a few...

Country/Texas:
Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, Charlie Robinson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Todd Schneider, and Corry Morrow

Jazz:
The Rippingtons, Solar Wind, David Sanborn

Funk:
Tower of Power, Brecker Bros.

drive through
senses fail cause they deserve their own spot
sum41
atticus bands

basically anything i can find off a compilation cause im too lazy to get full cd's...

Right now, Ayreon.
I've always liked electronic music such as Tangerine Dream, Synergy (Larry Fast), The Art of Noise and Galbatron.
Classic rock, Rush, Moody Blues, Queen, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, ELP, Pink Floyd, The Who,Alice Cooper, Jethro Tull.
I like Weird Al's parodys.
Musical fantasy and SF Rhapsody and Klaatu.

Some of the trance stuff I like, much is boring.

Hey Gordon,

You bring the rockets and I'll bring the CD's

(Ok, I'll supply the engines......)

We could definitely relax with musical tastes like that.

I'm also a big fan of Bach (gotta play organ music really LOUD!)

And for new stuff I like Tragically Hip.

Animals is a *vastly* under-played album. Exquisite. Awesome.

"Pigs" (track 3 on the CD) is just awesome. Dogs is more intricate and meaningul, and Sheep as orchestral and more laiden with angst.

I love that album.

The early 'Floyd is equally as groundbreaking, but lacking the conceptuality of the post-Dark Side projects. Influenced more strongly by the band's founder (Syd Barrett) the songs are full of free-form and lacking symphonic fluidity. Important in their concept, interesting in their execution, and entertaining in their result. Those albums really were "the cutting edge" before Waters and Gilmour took over and brought the band - and rock 'n roll, for that matter - to the next level.

The "transition" album from Barret's acid chaos to Waters/Gilmours perfect insanity was Meddle. Glimpses of the post-Barret Floyd emerge with "One of These Days," "Pillow of Winds," and - most importantly - "Fearless." Barret lives on with one triumphant, developmental jam with "Albatross."

Great album.

Hear, hear. Both of these albums are pure works of art. It goes beyond music and into depths of the mind...

I don't really have any favorites as I seem to go through phases...so here goes

Beatles, Aerosmith, Boston, The Who, Doors, Eagles

Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman

George Strait

Yo Yo Ma

RUSH!

Without a doubt - #1

Pink Floyd are a close second. Lately, I reaaaallly like the Waters solo albums (with the exception of most of KAOS) better than Floyd.

For example today and tonight I listened to (in order)

Rush - Feedback
Rush - In Rio (disc 2)
Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis?
Roger Waters - Amused to Death
Pink Floyd - Echoes - (the "greatest hits" thingy. I won it off the radio)
Blues Traveller - (The one from 2 years ago) just the first 3 songs.
Albert Collins
Robert Cray - The new one
Robert Cray - The Score (I guess I was feeling a little blue)
Geddy Lee - My Favourite Headache
Part of Victor - (the Alex Lifeson solo project)
Rush - Vapor Trails

John (not Jon) Arthur
