My first is for PC Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004
My second is for PS2 Legacy Of Kain-Defiance
Legacy of kain. Has to have some of the best graphics, gamplay, and story line ever created in the history of gaming.

What your guys favs?

Start -> run -> "sol"

no really....Counterstrike or Starcraft. They are the only games I still play, even though they are very old, they are still the best. I can hear the teeming millions yelling 'PONG!!!!' though.

My all time fave WAS Star Wars Tie Fighter but it won't work in my new computer (Windows XP)

My new favorite is Midtown Madness and Midtown Madness II.

I like the Hummer...and the new 4wd VW.

I like to cruise San Fransisco and see how many cop cars I can drive into the bay!:D

My record is 16 cop cars.

GB-Pokemon Blue (and the Not-fully-translated Japanese version of Pokemon Gold. Gotta love how team rocket dudes give you the finger(actually they tell you the word) in an E-rated game  )
GBA-Pokemon Ruby
PS-Rumble Racers
PS2-Grand Theft Auto 3
GCN-Sonic Heroes
Xbox-HALO
PC-Microsoft FLight Simulator 2002
N64-James Bond Goldeneye

I do not have all these consoles, owned a Gameboy Color but sold it to get money for my GBA. Now the only ones I own are the PC and GBA. I also have a GBASP and am going to look into the GBDS when it comes out. I'm a real fan of handheld gaming.

Half Life

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

And for really sick thrills:

GroupWise (The e-mail system at work ~ always an adventure);)

I'm a HUGE fan of the classic arcade video games (& pinball too!)

In no particular order, I'm a huge fan of games like Donkey Kong, Ms Pac-Man, Centipede, Defender, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Gyruss (I used to absolutely RULE that game!), Tempest (arguably the finest video game *ever*), and Galaga.

If none of those ring a bell, then shame on you! haha :p

If those (& others) do but don't know where to play them anymore...check out these sites:
MAME - Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator

MAMEworld

Heck, a few years ago I even went to the trouble of building my own controller for use on the PC with MAME :D It has real joysticks & buttons just like the real thing! (And yes, that's a picture of it sitting on top of my real, live, working Demolition Man pinball machine...)

Only the greatest Teamplayer internet game ever made...where friendships were made and fun was had...and still is!

TRIBES

...then...

It doesn't get much better than that.

Cool! I was seriously considering making my own MAME cabinet: full with art, lights, controllers, TV, computer, etc. That would be soooo cool. For some reason *cough*$*cough*, I never started making it. Those Xmen vs. Street Fighter type arcade games are the best.

EDIT: Also, Sandman, have you tried right-clicking on the TIE game (the .exe file) and selecting Properties, going to the Compatibility tab, Check 'Run this program in ...' and select Win 95/98 or ME. Click OK, see what happens when you try to run it this time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does'nt. You can also try messing with the other options under the compatibility tab.

Edit #2:
If it is on the CD, try Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Program Compatibility Wizard. Good luck!

A pinball emulator would be cool. The playing field, (table?) would be some great pinball set-up, with an LED or plasma screen under a clear panel that would show different table art, and another LED screen for the upright art piece. Cool!!!

PC: Roller Coaster Tycoon. I love that game!

XBox: DOA Extreme Beach Vollyeball (OOOh la la!)
Steel Battalion (OOOh yeah!)
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact (*almost* better!)
SSX Tricky (I put up over 1,200,000 points on a single run in "ShowOff" mode)

You know ther are some great PC pinball simulators, One of the best is TimeShock!

You could get a copy here for $5

Carl - now we know why you needed that spare OC3 at work... ;)

I've got to throw my hat in with these classics of yore:

Joust
Gauntlet
Frogger

And for you console gamers:

Missile Command
Space Invaders
Combat
Asteroids

Now THOSE are some classics!

WW

In no particular order:
Deus Ex
Freespace 1 and 2
Deus Ex
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 (plus expansions)
Deus Ex
MechWarrior 3, 4, and expansions for 4
Deus Ex
Crimson Skies
Deus Ex
Homeworld 1 and 2 (and Cataclysm to a lesser extent)
Deus Ex
No One Lives Forever 1 and 2
Deus Ex
Pharaoh
Stronghold (and Crusader)
Tron 2.0
Far Cry

...oh yeah, and Deus Ex:D

qMaxx-

You like Pharaoh? Cool, someone else who does. I used to play it ALL THE TIME but i lost the disk :(

Beezar (or something like that).

It was a shoot-em-up for the Apple II, circa 1983.
The difference was the entire package, directions and even the information on the screen was in an "alien language" that you had to decode to understand. It was a simple substitution code, and one of my employees at the Apple store I ran was an ex-Navy crypto guy, so we had it in like 15 minutes. But we refused to tell any of the customers that -- it'd spoil the fun.

Oh yeah, since it was "alien" the bad guys that you had to shoot down were space shuttles, LEMs, astronauts and the like.

Yeah...I like it, but I've never finished it in the 3 or 4 years I've had it. I ended up just downloading a bunch of scenarios and playing them out, as well as just trying to keep as many palatial mansions running as possible for as long as possible. Heh...I think I've gone through about 3 pads of graph paper working out different arrangements and population blocks.

I've actually got 2 copies of the game - an original and the Pharaoh/Cleopatra combo CD.

Oh, whoops. Favorites by system:

Law of the West for the Commodore 64. (I actually have a fully working C64, not an emulator!)

Jungle Hunt for the Atari 2600 (same situation as the C64....I am sooo lucky!)

Used to have Artillery Duel for the VIC20...but it konked out a year ago. That was an awesome two player game.

Mario Kart 64 for N64

Halo for X-box

Super Mario RPG for SNES

Mario or Final Fantasy for NES

Bah...I'm too poor for these recent systems.

here are my favs

Flight simulator 2002
Black Hawk Down
Madden 2004
Mafia
Medal of Honor

I'm downloading Americas Army, I'm at 201MB so far, its 675Megs!! I heard this game rockas

I'm with Lance on this one- Gyruss and Galaga rock! Even my
son has picked up on these classics (both with MAME and his GameBoy).

Another great classic (especially two player) is Joust.

But allow me put on my curmudgeon hat for a second... :)

Video games!?!?! Why in my day, we played text-based
Adventure and Zork until all hours of the night! And we learned
stuff from it too! Not like these Quake and Starcraft and Diablo
shooters.... You young'ens don't know what you're missing
until you've entered "a maze of twisty passages that all look the same"
and confronted a Grue because you forgot to light your lamp.

And sit down with Ford Prefect and listen to some excellent poetry
sometime (don't forget your Babelfish!)- you'll thank me later.

Video- Bah! It's just a fad.

It seems my favorites change every time a new game comes out. Lately, my list would include:

Far Cry
Rise of Nations
Age of Mythology, the Titans
Empires, Dawn of the Modern World
City of Heroes (online game)

Of course, MAME is great for those oldies that I used to play but can now still enjoy without someone watching over my shoulder to see how bad I really am (the arcade experience).

There are emulators out there for just about every old computer and game system. You can boot up everything from a MITS Altair 8800, TRS-80 Model x, a Commodore 64/128 or even a NES or Super NES and play the original games from back when high res graphics meant 16 colors, CPU speed was measured in KHz and memory size was measured in Kb! Ahh, the good old days.

Arcade games:
- Galaxian
- Galaga
- Gyruss
- Gauntlet ("Elf needs food badly!")
- Star Wars
- Tempest
- Star Trek Combat Simulator

PC games:
- X-Wing
- TIE Fighter
- Rebel Assault

As a kid, I'd play AstroSmash on my Intellivision for hours on end.

We still have the intellivision and play it (along with a whole slew of other games) from time to time.

For the Commodore 64/128, the favorites included Lode Runner, Marble Madness, Phantasy IV, Bruce Lee, Spy vs. Spy, EA's Pinball Construction Set, and EA's Racing Destruction Set.
The Leather Goddesses of Phobos gets an honorable mention as a text game.

The greatest arcade games of all time are/were Spy Hunter and The Dragon's Lair.

BTW: Lode Runner on PS1 was a great, great game. Definitely my favorite on the PS1.

Classic Asteroids, Pong, Pac Man, Mega Man series (nes), NHL95 (Genesis), Wild 9, Final Fantasy VII, Gran Turismo 2, 3 and soon 4, Driver 1, 2, and soon 3, Destruction Derby 2, Metal Gear Series, Splinter Cell, Dynasty Warriors Series, Command and Conquer Red Strike Yuir’s Revenge, soon Battle for Middle Earth. Great thread!:D
