Greetings All!

kelly, my Wife, was diagnosed yesterday with colon cancer.

I've had this feeling of dread for the past month and haven't been able to shake it. Three weeks ago, we were in the emergency for abdominal (intestinal) pain. This was diagnosed as constipation and we followed up with our family doc. Nothing unusual showed on a CAT scan. The pain went away only to return last Friday night. The specialist did both an upper and lower G.I. exam. A tumor was found that was so large he couldn't get the scope by it.

We see the surgeon tomorrow at noon, then take it from there.

Needless to say, Hartle Engineering is in stand-by mode until things are farther along, and we know more about Kelly. If all goes well, we hope to be back with both the new Jonrocket and Uncle Mike! Also hope to have a few new supprises too!

In the meantime, I'd appreciate any and all good thoughts and prayers.

Thanx folks,
Evil Ed

Ed,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife as you navigate this difficult time.

This is Kelly (Mrs. Evil Ed). Ed just showed me all your kind comments and wishes. I just keep telling myself three things: 1. We're probably catching it early; 2. There's an 80-90% cure rate if it's caught in the earliest stages, and 3. Bald is beautiful. Thank you for being a family to Ed. He can laugh about things that have been posted on here when nothing else makes him smile, and he's taking this a lot harder than I am right now, so help him smile, OK? Thanks.

Your courage is an example one would do well to emulate. If Ed needs a laugh tell him to research some of my build threads.

Well, the surgery is set for a week from today (Thursday). Everything looks good for a removal of only the one section and the surrounding lymph nodes, then stitch everything back together (tex 90 Kevlar??:D). The chemo will begin after she has recovered from this step.

All we we gotta do now is wait.........

Ed

SO sorry to hear this Ed and Kelly...

God bless and be with you both, we're praying for ya.

Peace and love to yall both! OL JR :)

Well, Kelly had her surgery today. All seems to have gone very well!
The tumor does not appear to have gone through the colon wall, and the lymph nodes appear healthy at this time. Now we wait for her to heal and for the lab results to come in, but it looks like we caught it in stage I or stage II:).

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers- they mean a lot to both of us!

Thanx again:cheers:,

(I just read this thread...)

I am sorry this happened to you guys. Kelly, it's great to hear that the surgery went well, but I will be praying for you anyway, that healing will be complete. It sounds like you have a great supporter.

This stuff is so scary, the way it pops up out of nowhere. Kelly, I admire you for having such a good attitude. I hope things go much better for you from here on out.

........for Ed,

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

God bless and remember attitude is everything..
