My family got me an rx and servos for xmas and I hate to see them just sitting there, so when I got home from Seattle today, I sketched out another on my list, a flyable RC RG hybrid styled after the X-2 and Eddie Braun versions of the skycycle. It's coming out pretty light, under 10 oz rtf with a 28.25" length, 2.6" diameter, 20" wingspan. Of course the wings are larger so it will fly, and the wing goes further forward so I'll have to scale down the name on the side to fit the remaining forward portion of the fuselage. I glued a small conical cone onto the PNC-80BB to create the crush cone on the model, then proceeded to cut and fit everything together. Here it is during assembly and after indoor glide/CG verification and starting to put some vinyl hand cut trim on. I also show two additional 3mm spars I attached to the underside of the wing using packing tape to provide extra stiffness to avoid flutter during boost.

Finished it up this morning except for some silver stars and the lettering which will say "Evel Spirit" on one side and "Evel Knievel" on the other since the model is a mashup between the two. Radio install went easy, I was a bit nose heavy so cut a hatch in the bottom of the tube to mount the receiver and just put the battery up front. AUW came in at 10 oz rtf with E-6, it's pretty light....

I'm the pilot, and I was wearing my cape if you feel any better.......I left off Evel and the windscreen because I didn't want to risk my yaw stability margin, the CG is not that far forward wrt the turtledeck, even with the wingtips I still have maybe one caliber which should be fine.....

Where's Evel?

Got three very nice flights, glide trim was perfect, I just needed to add in a touch of downtrim, but it didn't wobble at all, dead straight.

Evel stopped by after lunch and let me take some pictures with him in the cockpit...

He only had his helmet from Wembley with him so that had to do....
